Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark makes world’s first ‘immersive’ phone call
Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark made a phone call using a new technology called “immersive audio and video” that improves the quality of a call with three-dimensional sound, making interactions more lifelike. The call was held with Stefan Lindstrom, Finland’s Ambassador of Digitalisation and New Technologies.
Current smartphone calls are monophonic which compresses audio elements together and sound flatter and less detailed, but the new technology will bring 3D audio where a caller will hear everything as if they were there with the other person. The technology is part of the upcoming 5G Advanced standard and Nokia aims to get licensing opportunities with the technology which would likely take a few years to be available widely. ISRO Shares Pics Of Sun’s Dynamic Activities, Captured By Aditya-L1
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has released stunning images of the Sun captured by the Aditya L1 satellite during a major geomagnetic storm in May. The two remote sensing payloads, namely the Solar UltraViolet Imaging Telescope (SUIT) and the Visible Emission Line Coronagraph (VELC), along with other payloads, captured these images from the Lagrange point in space.
ISRO said that during the May 8-15 week, the Active region AR13664 on the Sun – said to be one of the biggest sunspots in recorded history – during its passage erupted several X-class and M-class flares that were associated with Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) between May 8 and 9. This later produced a major geomagnetic storm on May 11.
The images released by ISRO clearly show magnetically active regions with large solar flares on the Sun’s surface. The solar emissions depict the relative brightness of sunspots, umbra, penumbra, and plages. ISRO states that these images will assist astrophysicist in studying solar flares, their energy distribution, sunspots, and UV radiation across wide wavelength ranges.
The Aditya-L1 spacecraft was launched by PSLV-C57 on September 2, 2023, from SDSC SHAR, into an elliptical parking orbit (EPO) of 235.6 km by 19502.7 km. Aditya-L1 was designed and realized at UR Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) with participation from various ISRO centers. The payloads onboard Aditya-L1 were developed by Indian scientific laboratories, IIA, IUCAA, and ISRO.
