  • Graduate from any stream
  • Must be between 20 – 30 years of age

IBPS RRB Officer Scale I

  • Graduate from any stream
  • Must be between 18 – 30 years of age
  • Proficiency in state language is a must.

– It differs from the IBPS PO exam in terms of the preliminary examination. The IBPS RRB Officer Scale – I has no test of English language at the prelims stage.  

 

IBPS PO v/s IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I: Posting Locations

IBPS PO

  • POs in commercial banks can be posted in either rural or urban areas all over the country.
  • The frequency of transfer of Probationary Officers is every 2 to 3 years.
  • The Probationary Officers are posted to at least 3 different locations during their Probation period. 

IBPS RRB Officer Scale I

  • The area of operation of the RRBs is generally restricted to the geographical region of the state or districts. Thus, the postings are in rural areas of the states that you apply for.
  • The frequency of postings is comparatively lower for IBPS RRB Scale – I Officers.
IBPS PO Vs IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I: Salary and Perks

IBPS PO

  • A Probationary Officer’s starting gross monthly salary range is approximately ₹37,000 – ₹38,000/-.
  • Perks: Probationary Officers too receive perks such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, Newspaper reimbursement, Hospitalization reimbursement, Pension, Petrol, Deputation Allowance, Newspaper expenses, etc.

 

IBPS RRB Officer Scale I

  • A scale – I officer’s starting gross monthly salary is approximately Rs. 36,400/-
  • There are also various perks attached with these posts like lease accommodation, travelling allowance, medical benefits, newspaper reimbursement etc.
Job Responsibilities : IBPS PO v/s IBPS RRB Officer Scale – I

IBPS PO

POs in a PSB have many areas of specialization to pursue, such as Corporate/ Industrial Finance, Retail Banking, FX dealings (including imports & exports), Merchant Banking, Information Technology, in addition to Rural financing, Consultancy Services and many more. Some major job responsibilities include:-

  • Loan Processing
  • Issuing ATM Cards, DDs, Cheques, and other bank instruments
  • Handling customer grievances & rectifying undue charges
  • Guiding customers in Bank
  • Overseeing Clerical work such as cash management and account opening & supervising the documentation process

IBPS RRB Officer Scale – I

The area of operation of the RRBs is generally restricted to the geographical region of states or districts. Also, the range of activities handled by them apart from customer service and deposit mobilization, is restricted to providing credit and other facilities to the small and marginal farmers, agricultural laborers, artisans and small entrepreneurs in rural areas.  Major job responsibilities include:-

  • Managing all the functions of the bank
  • Making the farmers understand the benefits of the credit facilities in the most transparent ways.
  • Assessment of credit profiles
  • Repayment of  loans 
  • Spreading awareness about the different policies and schemes to local people.
  • Maintaining the bank’s annual balance sheet and creating the audit reports
  • The implementation of government schemes 

The work will be less when compared to other PSB’s. Since there is not much work pressure and it involves lesser number of people, the work-life balance is better.
