Factors Affecting the Cut Off marks
The Combined Defense Services (CDS) Exam cut off is determined by several factors, including:
- Number of vacancies: The cut-off may be influenced by the number of vacancies available for a particular exam cycle. If the number of vacancies is high, the cut-off may be lower, and vice versa.
- Difficulty level of the exam: If the question paper is difficult, the cut-off may be lower, as fewer candidates would be able to score high marks.
- Previous year cut-off: The cut-off for the current year may be influenced by the cut-off for the previous year. If the cut off for the previous year was high, then the cut off for the current year may also be high.
- Number of candidates appearing for the exam: The cut-off may be affected by the number of candidates appearing for the exam. If the number of candidates is high, then the cut-off may be high as well.
- Reservation policy: The cut-off for different categories (SC, ST, OBC, General) may be different due to the reservation policy. Candidates from the reserved categories may have a lower cut-off as compared to candidates from the general category.
- Marking scheme: The marking scheme for the exam also plays a role in determining the cut-off. If the marking scheme is lenient, then the cut-off may be higher, as more candidates would be able to score high marks.
