• Palau has become the first country to ban sun cream that is harmful to corals and sea life. Palau, which lies in the western Pacific about halfway between Australia & Japan, is renowned for its marine life.
• HDFC received approval from IRDAI to acquire a 51.2% stake in Apollo Munch Health Insurance. IRDAI stands for Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority.
• UIDAI has opened 28 Aadhar Seva Kendras as part of its plan to open 114 stand-alone Aadhaar Enrolments & Update Centres across the country.
• Swarna Jayanti Fellowships were awarded to 14 Scientists associated with projects containing innovative research ideas & with the potential of making an impact on R&D.
• 4 Indian Air Force men have been selected as candidate astronauts for India’s 1st human space mission scheduled for 2022. ISRO Chief announced a fresh attempt to land a spacecraft on the Moon via Chandrayaan-3.

• Former Guinea-Bissau Prime Minister Umaro Cissoko Embalo has been elected as President after winning a run-off vote against another ex-prime minister.
• Oil prices jumped more than $1 on Friday after a US airstrike killed key Iranian & Iraqi military personnel, raising concerns that escalating Middle East tensions may disrupt oil supplies.
