EPFO Assistant Mains Preparation Resources & Some Tips 2019

I. EPFO Assistant Mains Preparation – General/ Economy/Financial Awareness

1. First, lets us talk about the General/Economy/Financial Awareness section. This section if prepared properly can be a game-changer. It carries a total of 40 marks for 40 questions to be attempted in 20 minutes. You can score as high as 35+ marks in this section, just the right preparation and revision. 

2. Seeing the trend of the GA section of various Bank and Government Exams, it can be easily observed that current affairs of the past 6 months and even beyond 6 months is being asked. Therefore, to be on the safer side, we would suggest you to prepare as well as revise the last 6 months GA.

3. Remember as the exam is in November, a majority of the questions would be asked from the months of October, September, August and July. Do revise the GA from these months repeatedly. Do not forget to revise them.

4. Give special emphasis to the Economy/Financial Awareness news when you revise the GA portion for the exam.

II. EPFO Assistant Mains Preparation – Reasoning/ Intelligence

1. Now that you have cleared your Prelims, we suppose that your basics are on point. Now, for Mains, you just need to practice a fair number of reasoning questions and analyse solutions of those questions. This can best happen through Mock Tests.

2. While you take up EPFO Mains Mock Tests, attempt these with full sincerity. Try to attempt the maximum questions keeping the accuracy level high. After you have finished taking up the test, sit and go through the analysis of the Mock Test. Go through the solutions of the unattempted and incorrect questions. This exercise will teach you a way as to how to go about solving that type of question so that you don’t miss out on any marks if the same kind of question crops up in the Mains exam.

III. EPFO Assistant Mains Preparation – Quantitative Aptitude

1. Work extensively on your calculations and by that we mean you must be in a habit of solving a question within least time. Learn all the formula of topics covered in the syllabus. Practice some mental calculation tricks from youtube channel.

2. Go through the Quicker Quants Video Series to learn the quick calculation techniques and apply the same while solving the questions. Once you learn these techniques and apply them while you practice, we are sure you would be able to score better and higher in the Mock Tests as well as in the exam. 

3. Revise the formulae and rules of topics such as Mixtures & Alligations, SI & CI, Time, Speed and Distance, Time & Work, Profit & Loss, Mensuration, Averages, Number System, Algebra etc.

4. If you are still not thorough with the Quants Basic, you can start by watching Oliveboard’s Expert Faculty videos for your clarity of concept.

5. As this is Mains level Exam, Data Interpretation will carry maximum marks here. You need to practice a lot of DI questions. You can refer to the recent Free Youtube sessions taught by our Faculty to master Data Interpretation. 

6. The best way to practice and test yourself will be by taking Mock Tests. Mock Tests give a wide variety of questions of varying difficulty levels. This helps you practice in a time-bound manner so that you become used to exam environment and exam anxiety is gone. 

7. After taking up the test, do solve the incorrect and unattempted questions. Always remember that analysing the Mock Test is as important as taking up Mock tests.

IV. EPFO Assistant Mains Preparation – English Language 

1. Practice different types of questions regularly like Reading Comprehension, Cloze Tests, Phrase Replacement, Sentence Improvement, Error Detection and Correction. For English Reading regularly and practising the questions will help you a lot.
