NLC India Secures 810 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan

810 MW Solar Project

NLC India Limited, a distinguished Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSE) under the Ministry of Coal, has achieved a significant milestone by winning an 810 MW Solar PV project from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Nigam Limited (RRVUNL). This achievement underscores NLC India’s dedication to sustainable and clean energy solutions.

Leading the Charge in 810 MW Solar Project

NLC India has secured the entire 810 MW capacity in a tender initiated by RRVUNL in December 2022. The project is destined for RRVUNL’s 2000 MW Ultra Mega Solar Park, situated in the Pugal Tehsil of Bikaner District, Rajasthan. RRVUNL has officially issued the Letter of Intent for this project, signifying the commencement of this ambitious endeavor.

Collaborative Progress

In a collaborative effort, RVUNL will provide the land required for the project and the power evacuation system, connected to the State Transmission Utility (STU). This partnership is anticipated to accelerate project completion, enabling NLC India to make significant contributions to Rajasthan’s power landscape. With this project, Rajasthan’s total power project capacity will reach an impressive 1.36 GW, including 1.1 GW of green power. This expansion brings economies of scale and optimized fixed costs, making clean energy more accessible and cost-effective.

A Green Powerhouse: 810 MW Solar Project

Rajasthan’s abundant solar radiation and favorable conditions promise a higher Capacity Utilization Factor (CUF) for the project. This translates to the generation of more than 50 billion units of green power and offsetting over 50,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions throughout the project’s lifespan.

NLC India’s Expanding Renewable Portfolio

NLC India is not limiting itself to this remarkable project. The company is actively involved in various other renewable energy ventures across India, including a 50 MW solar project on mined-out land, a 200 MW solar project under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) scheme nationwide, a 300 MW solar project under the CPSU Scheme in Barsingsar, Bikaner District, and a colossal 600 MW solar project in Khavda, Bhuj District, Gujarat.

A Vision for a Greener Tomorrow

Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD of NLC India, expressed the company’s commitment to renewable energy. NLC India was the first CPSU to install 1 GW of renewable energy capacity and is now embarking on a journey to develop 2 GW of renewable energy capacity across India, with a target to reach more than 6 GW by 2030. This aligns perfectly with the Government of India’s commitment to augmenting renewable energy capacity addition.
