For several positions in the SSC CGL Examination, physical exams are required. The official SSC CGL Exam announcement contains the instructions for the physical examination for both male and female applicants.

Only those applicants who meet the necessary physical requirements will be qualified to be hired for the positions. The individual interviewing departments will also conduct physical evaluations of the candidates in addition to the vision test.

Physical Standards for SSC CGL – Compulsory for Sub-inspector and Inspector Positions:

The following physical requirements must be met by applicants for the positions of Inspector (Preventive Officer/Examiner/Central Excise Officer), Inspector, and Sub-inspector of the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN).

Physical Standards for SSC CGL – Compulsory for Sub-Inspector in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI):

The following physical requirements must be met by applicants for the position of sub-inspector with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI):

Height	Male Candidates: 165 cm Female candidates: 150 cm(Height can be relaxed by 5 cm for candidates from tribals and hillsmen)
Chest	Male Candidates:  The chest should be 76 cm with full expansion for the male candidates. Female candidates: No such requirements are present for female candidates.
Vision	Eyesight (without or with glasses) for both male and female candidates: Distant Vision: 6/9 in one and 6/6 in the other eye Near Vision: 0.8 in one eye and 0.6 in the other eye

Physical Standards for SSC CGL – Compulsory for Sub-Inspector in the National Investigation Agency (NIA):

Candidates must submit to/meet the physical requirements listed below in order to be considered for the position of sub-inspector at the National Investigation Agency (NIA):

Height	Male Candidates: 170 cm Female candidates: 150 cm(Height can be relaxed by 5 cm for candidates from tribals and hillsmen)
Chest	Male Candidates: The chest should be 76 cm with full expansion for the male candidates. Female candidates: No such requirements are present for female candidates.

The physical efficiency exams are administered at the GREF Centre or the appropriate recruitment centers by the Board of Officers, as instructed by the Director General of Border Roads.

Western Himalayan Areas: Uttarakhand, Punjab Hills (area to the west and south of the inter-state border present between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh and east and north of Garhshankar, Mukerian, Hoshiarpur, Ropar and Chandigarh), Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. Medical Tests and Standards:

The General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF(charter )’s of responsibilities, job profiles, and projected deployment, which includes extremely high altitude, remote, and challenging regions of mountainous areas) dictate the necessary medical criteria for the recruitment of applicants for the services. The following are the mandatory medical requirements for services in the GREF:

General:

Each candidate must possess good health, be sufficiently intelligent, and be free from nervous instability.

General Examination:

Candidates must totally remove all clothing before the medical examination may begin. Each area of the candidate’s body is examined by the medical officer.

It is important to note that, with the exception of the inner area of the forearms, no permanent body ink is allowed. Even if an applicant makes it to the round of general medical inspection, they will still be disqualified if they have tattoos.

Candidates who are deemed unsuitable or fit are properly notified about their medical results by the medical board that conducts the tests once all the medical examinations are finished.
