The PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) Scheme, also known as PMKSNY, was launched on February 1, 2019, a government-run scheme to support farmers. This scheme ensures that the farmers get ₹6,000 (equivalent to ₹6,300 or US$84 in 2020) per year as minimum income support. Piyush Goyal announced the initiative during the 2019 Interim Union Budget of India. This scheme assures a fixed amount of 6000 rupees per annum which the government will deposit directly in the eligible farmers’ bank accounts. Each farmer will receive Rs.6000 payable in three equal four monthly installments of Rs.2000 each. The usage of these funds is completely at the will of the farmer. The funding is solely from the Government of India using Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

New Updates On The PM- KISAN Scheme In The Year 2021

According to a few reports, the Central Government will release a huge amount of Rs 22,000 crores. This amount is said to be the 3rd installment for the farmers from December to March. The government has provided a generous sum of Rs 1.57 lakh crores to the farmers and their families to provide financial support for their aid. According to sources, the government has already spent Rs 43,000 crores for 2022, and the third installment will be released soon. And there is also a possibility to add 500 crores or more as more and more farmers are being aware and enrolling into this scheme.

Who Is Eligible To Avail Of The PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) Scheme?

The state government or union territory bodies are responsible for qualifying the eligibility of individuals under this scheme wherein the farmer family includes a husband, a wife and minor children (dependant):

Those farmers who still have ongoing farming activities on cultivated land and landholding farmers can apply under this scheme.
Famers who stay in rural areas as well as urban areas.
Farmers from marginal and small family backgrounds.

Those Not Eligible To Avail Of The PM KISAN Scheme:

Employees in government service with state or central government or public sector or any other autonomous bodies owned by the government
Retired government officers.
Individuals who pay income tax.
Those farmers who hold constitutional posts.
Pensioners who have income from pension Rs.10,000.
Individual beneficiaries who have higher economic status.
Former or present ministers of government.
Members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, whether working presently or have been former members.
No Mayor of any municipal corporation.
Chairperson of a Panchayat of any district.
Professionals like doctors, Chartered Accountants, lawyers, architects are also not eligible under this category.
