RRB NTPC Selection Process
The selection process stages under RRB NTPC are::

- The RRB NTPC exam is a computer-based test.
- It will be an objective type multiple choice question examination.
- The total number of questions is 100.
- The examination is divided into 3 sections- Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and General Awareness.
- Each question carries 1 mark.
- A negative marking of 1/3 mark is applicable.
- The time duration of the examination is 1.5 hours (90 minutes).
- The examination duration for PWD candidates is 2 hours (120 minutes)
Minimum Passing Marks:
The candidates must secure the minimum passing marks to clear the paper. The minimum passing marks and the cut off marks are not the same. Minimum marks are to clear the paper, whereas the cut off is the qualifying marks a candidate has to attain to get shortlisted for the next stage of the selection process. The category-wise minimum qualifying marks for the Examination are as under:
- UR – 40 percent
- SC- 30 percent
- OBC- NCL – 30 percent
- EWS- 40 percent
- ST- 25 percent
- These percentages of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2 per cent for PwBD candidates.
- There will be negative marking, and a 1/3 mark shall be deducted for each wrong answer.
- Stage- I CBT is of a screening nature.
- The total number of candidates to be shortlisted shall be 20 times the vacancies available.
- The normalized score for Stage- I CBT will be used for shortlisting candidates for Stage- II CBT as per their merit.

- The RRB NTPC examination is a computer-based test.
- It will be an objective type multiple choice question examination.

RRB NTPC Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Candidates applying for the post of Traffic Asst. and Station Master need to take the CBAT
- Candidates must secure a minimum T-Score of 42marks in each test battery to qualify. This is applicable to all categories, and no relaxation in the minimum T-Score is provided.
- Candidates must qualify in each test battery of CBAT to be considered for recruitment.
- The CBAT has questions and answers options in both English and Hindi. Negative marking is not applicable.
- Merit list will be made only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the CBAT, with 70 per cent weightage for marks obtained in Stage- II CBT and 30 per cent weightage for marks obtained in CBAT.
Typing Skill Test (TST)
- This test is qualifying in nature.
- Eight times the number of vacancies will be called for typing test.
- The candidates should type 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi on a Computer without the editing tools and spell check facility.
Document Verification (DV)
Based on the performance of candidates in Stage II and the performance of candidates in both Stage- II CBT and CBAT/ TST (as applicable).
