I am Amandeep Sharma hailing from village Brij Nagar dist. Jammu, J&K. I did my graduation in 2016 & my master’s in mathematics from Jammu university in 2019. I started my preparation in 2017. I took coaching from Mahindra institute during my masters & then studied from various channels & apps. But for the first 2 years, I was not able to clear any pre-exam. I then analyzed what went wrong & worked on my mistakes. I then cleared IBPS PO & Clerk in 2019 but wasn’t able to clear mains. Eventually, the 2020 covid lockdown helped me a lot to work on my weaknesses & Oliveboard daily lockdown tests helped me a lot in this. And finally, I cleared IBPS RRB PO, IBPS Clerk, IBPS PO (cleared mains but missed the overall cutoff by 2 marks), JK Bank PO & JK Bank Associate.

Subject-Wise Preparation Strategy of Amandeep Sharma

I will start with prelims first. 

Quantitative:- For quant, my arithmetic was weak so I worked hard on simplification and approximation, number series, arithmetic, and DI. I gave mock tests from Oliveboard and one other website which helped me increase my speed. 

Reasoning:- For reasoning, I learned the basics of each concept from YouTube & cleared my concepts in a short time. After that, I gave mock tests after finishing each topic and focused more on puzzles as they carry the highest weightage. 

English:- English was my strong portion so I just gave mock tests from Oliveboard and one other source.

For Mains:- 

Quant:- In the quant section, the highest weightage is of DI. So I solved various types of DI from previous year papers & gave mock tests & also worked on some arithmetic topics. 

Reasoning:- For reasoning, I worked mainly on puzzles & solved previous year’s papers, and gave mock tests 

English:- For the English part, I just gave mock tests and nothing else. 

Current Affairs: For the GK portion, I stuck to Oliveboard monthly bolt & one other source which helped me a lot. Along with this, the Oliveboard telegram channel helped me a lot & Vishnu Pareek’s sir classes were a game-changer for me.

Interview:- Then for the interview, I saw some mock interviews on YT. Along with it, I went through videos of candidates who appeared for the interview and saw what type of questions were asked at the interview and prepared myself accordingly.

I suggest everyone preparing should make a proper timetable and follow it strictly. One should rely on smart work along with hard work. Consistency is also one important aspect. One shouldn’t take long breaks from studies as it breaks one’s momentum. One should analyze his weak areas and work on them too.
