Success Story of Purbali Saha

Introduction

I have done an M.Sc. in Physics, which I completed in 2020. My hobbies are singing and playing chess.

Brief Description

I started preparing for banking examinations back in October 2020. In my first attempt at IBPS PO, which I took in January 2021, I was unable to clear the preliminary exam. For an entire year, I prepared through self-study using resources available on the internet. After having studied the basics, I regularly took mock tests and sectional quizzes.

Preparation Strategy

While taking mock tests, I identified the chapters which were easy for me and decided which questions to attempt and which ones to skip. I used to analyze each and every mock test and track my improvement. For reasoning and quant, first I studied the chapters and made sure that my concepts were clear. After that, I practised thoroughly in a time-bound manner. I used to read the editorial section of ‘The Hindu’ every day and this habit helped me immensely in the English section. I also practised reading comprehension and error spotting questions every day. For GA, I used to watch current affairs videos daily and make short hand-written notes, which I revised at regular intervals.

Role of Oliveboard

I took the banking test series from Oliveboard and also the interview course along with two mock interviews. Both have been very useful in my preparation journey. The mock tests matched the difficulty level of the actual examination. The mock interviews helped me in gaining confidence and work on my weaknesses.

Faculty Feedback

Aditya Sir taught banking awareness in the interview course in a very crisp and easy-to-understand manner. His suggestions regarding interview questions were also very helpful. During my mock interview, Sushmita Ma’am gave very constructive feedback and pointed out what all I should improve. I am thankful to both of them for their guidance and motivation.

Tips or advice for fellow aspirants

Do not waste time. Have a daily routine and stick to it. Also, do not prepare haphazardly. Have clear targets in mind and prepare in a structured and consistent way. Lastly, continuously analyze your performance through mock tests and make a strategy as per your strengths and weaknesses. All the very best!
