India and Japan to Hold Joint Military Exercise

India and Japan will be conducting a joint military exercise starting from 19th October 2019. This joint military exercise will be named ‘Dharma Guardian’.

The exercise is set to take place in Jungle Warfare School, Mizoram

The focus of this exercise will be to Counter Terrorism ops in jungle and Urban Scenario.

Indian Army and Japanese Ground Self Defence Forces (JGSDF) contingents comprising 25 soldiers each will participate in the exercise.

Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed wins Nobel Peace prize 2019

Ethiopian PM won the Nobel Peace prize 2019 for his peacemaking efforts with Eritrea.

Abiy Ahmed after coming to power in April 2018, the biggest step that he took was to end 20- year long military stalemate with Eritrea, following their war in 1998-2000.

Abiy has also pushed through reforms at home, dramatically changing the atmosphere in what was regarded as a repressive state.

India and ADB joins hands to improve road connectivity in Rajasthan

India signed a loan agreement from Asian Development Bank for $190 million to improve the road connectivity in Rajasthan.

The government has planned to improve 754 km of State Highways which will benefit about 26 million people from 14 districts.

ADB was established in 1996 and is headquartered in Manila, Philippines.

Japan has the highest share in ADB.

RBI approves the merger of District Co-operative banks in Kerala

RBI in their latest statement approved the merger of District Co-operative banks and combinedly they will be called ‘Kerala Bank’.

A total of 13 District Co-operative banks will be merged with the Kerala State Co-operative Bank.

Minister for Cooperation Kadakampally Surendran conveyed the agreement on the implementation of the procedures within the predetermined time frame.

The conditions put forward by RBI has to be met by all the banks before 31 march 2020.

Andhra Pradesh CM launches vision improvement scheme

Andhra Pradesh CM launched ‘YSR Kanti Velugu’ programme.

The program is launched with the initiative to screen the school children both in public and private schools for vision defects and providing treatments free of cost.

The program would be taken up in 2 phases and will be completed by the end of the year 2020. It would be then extended to the general public.
