India signs MoU with Saudi Arabia

India signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia to launch the RuPay Card in the country. Saudia Arabia is now the third nation in West Asia to initiate India’s digital payment system.

The RuPay card is first of a kind Indian domestic Debit and Credit Card payment network.

It will benefit not only 2.6 million Indians in the Gulf Kingdom but also Haj and Umrah pilgrims.

President Ram Nath Kovind conferred first CSR awards 

President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the first National Corporate Social Responsibility Awards to the companies for their outstanding contributions in the area of CSR on 29th October 2019.

From here on, these awards will be hosted on 2nd October every year to honor the corporate sector giants for its contributions to the weaker sections.

Every FY since 2014-15, the corporate sector has set aside more than 10,000 crore INR for social welfare.

India to have 28 states and 9 Union Territories from 30th October 2019 midnight

Jammu and Kashmir has been deceased from being a state and is bifurcated into 2 Union Territories, comprising Ladakh and J&K.

The changes have been done in lieu of the J&K Reorganisation Act 2019. This is the first time that J&K state is converted into Union Territories.

Here on, there will be 28 states and 9 UT’s in India.

RBI imposes fines on 2 banks

Reserve bank of India has imposed a fine on 2 banks that are based in Pune. A fine of 1 crore will be imposed on Janata Sahakari Bank and INR 25 lakhs on Jalgaon People’s Cooperative Bank.

The fine is being imposed for violating income recognition, advances management, and asset clarification norms.

The power to impose fines is vested in RBI under the provisions of the Banking and Regulation Act, 1949.

Top 10 Best performing CEOs in the world 2019  is a list that is compiled by the Harvard Business Review. Three Indian origin CEOs are present in the Top 10 list.

  • 6th Spot – Shantanu Narayen of Adobe
  • 7th Spot – Ajay Banga of MasterCard
  • 9th Spot – Satya Nadella of Microsoft

The list is topped by NVIDIA’s CEO Jensen Huang.
