India expecting to setup US$ 26bn Defence Industry by 2025

As per the latest interview by our defence minister Mr Rajnath Singh, India is on a path to set up around US$ 26 bn industry by 2025.

US$ 10 billion investment is envisaged, which will help with the creation of 2.3 million jobs.

Approximately 25 defence specific AI products are expected to be introduced in the Defence System for our Country.

As a part of Make in India concept, 2 defence corridors will also be introduced-

  1. Uttar Pradesh- Aligarh, Agra, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow and Chitrakoot.
  2. Tamil Nadu- Chennai, Hosur, Salem, Coimbatore and Tiruchirapalli

Current Defence Secretary is Mr Ajay Kumar.

International Ramayan Festival Organised- 5th edition

5th International Ramayan festival was organised this year in New Delhi, under the supervision of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

ICCR works towards the popularism of Indian cultures and their values in the world.

17 countries participated in the festival and presented their versions of Ramayan to the audience. Ramayan is an epic scripted by Maharishi Valmiki.

Amit Shah (our home minister) presided the inauguration of the event.

Airtel Payments Bank launches Bharosa Savings account

Airtel has launched a savings account scheme with the name ‘Bharosa’. It will let the customers open their account with a minimum monthly balance of just 500/- INR.

Airtel will also provide 5 lakhs INR personal accident insurance on maintaining the minimum monthly balance of 500/- INR.

Being a payment bank, it will not be allowed to give any kind of loan. Cash withdrawing facility will be available anyway.

Customers can open savings account with only up to 1 lakh INR.

SITMEX 2019- A Joint Trilateral Military Exercise

A joint Trilateral military exercise has begun in Port Blair on. Participants of this military exercises are Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN), Royal Thailand Navy (RTN) and Indian Navy (IN).

This is the first time that a joint military exercise involves 3 countries forces instead of 2. The 5-day long event commenced on 16-Sep-2019. This exercise is done under India’s Act East Policy.

This military exercise is a step to strengthen maritime relations between Thailand, Singapore and India.

This exercise was announced by PM Modi in 2018 at Shangri-La dialogue.

Malaysia has also shown interest in being a part of this exercise. SITMEX stands for Singapore India Thailand maritime Exercise.

Indian Air Force successfully test-fires Astra Missile.

India successfully test-fires Astra missile. Astra is an air to air missile designed by DRDO.

It has a strike range of 70 km. Astra is designed to destroy targets that are beyond visual range (BVR) as termed by DRDO. It was fired from a Sukhoi- 30 MKI jet.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated Indian Air Force and the DRDO team for the successful test of the missile.
