1. CBDT sets up NeAC in New Delhi

The Central Board of Direct Taxes has set up newly formed National e-Assessment Centre in Delhi.

CBDT has appointed Krishna Mohan Prasad as its Principal Chief Commissioner. He will be looking after the Income-tax division of NeAC.

Krishna Mohan Prasad is a 1984 batch Indian Revenue Service(IRS) officer.

NeAC will have 16 officials in the team which will be headed by Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Krishna Mohan Prasad.

2. UP celebrated 1 year of PMJAY

23rd Sep 2019 was marked as the first anniversary of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna, under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

CM Yogi Aditya Nath felicitated the beneficiaries and the volunteers of the Program. Volunteers of the Program also called Ayushman Mitra.

The Ayushman Bharat Scheme has benefited many in last 1 year. Approximately 36 Lakh golden cards have been issued in the last 1 year.

3. British Travel Company Thomas Cook Collapses

150-year-old biggest travel firm in world Thomas Cook collapses after the government refused the help of 150 million pounds, citing the reason for Moral hazard.

CEO of Thomas Cook Peter Fankhauser reported the downfall publically.

Many customers of Thomas Cook are stranded in various parts of the country. Government is organizing planes for the people to be brought home.

British Government has assured stranded customers that the hotel bills will be settled by the government under an Insurance scheme.

4. Bihar to have First all Women Post Office

Bihar gets its first-ever all-women employee Post Office. It was inaugurated on 21st Sep 2019.

It is located in the premises of Bihar Public Services Commission (BPSC) and is named ‘Mahila Dak Ghar’. This is India’s second Post office that will be run by women.

It was inaugurated by Union minister Sri Ravi Shankar Prasad. He proclaimed this step to be important in the direction of Women Empowerment.

The first all women-run Post office Passport Kendra is located in Phagwara, Punjab.

5. India’s 2nd largest Railway over Bridge to be inaugurated

Indian Railways completed the construction of 4-lane Railway over Bridge (RoB) in Burdwan junction in West Bengal. This will be inaugurated by Union Minister Piyush Goyal on 30th Sep 2019.

Indian Railways completed the construction in 197 days. This project is built with the 50:50 partnership of Indian Railways and West Bengal Government, financially. This is a 300 crore INR project.

The Railway over Bridge will connect Burdwan town with the two sub-divisions of Kalna and Katwa, and is on the Howrah-Bardhaman main line in West Bengal.

Bogibeel bridge in Assam between Dhemaji district and Dibrugarh district, is the longest Railway over Bridge constructed over the Brahmaputra river. It is measured at 4.94 km.
