UPSC IFoS Selection Process 2024: Exam Pattern
The Indian Forest Service Selection Process 2024 completes in three steps. Candidates qualifying all the steps of the UPSC IFoS exam will be eligible to be recruited as Group ‘A’ officers to Indian Forest Department. The three steps of the UPSC IFoS selection process are as follows:

UPSC IFoS Selection Process 2024: Preliminary Exam
- Preliminary exam is the the first step of the UPSC IFoS Selection Process 2024.The preliminary stage consists of two papers, GS I and CSAT, both objective in nature.
- In the General Studies paper, each question carries 2 marks.
- In the CSAT paper, each question carries 2.5 marks.
- Both papers carry total of 200 marks each.
- There is negative marking of 1/3 of the marks allotted for that particular question.

UPSC IFoS Selection Process 2024: Main Exam
This step is the second step of the UPSC Indian Forest Service Selection Process 2024. Candidates who clear the preliminary exam cut-off, become eligible for main exam. In the Main exam process, there are 6 papers which holds total 1400 marks and 18 hours of time duration. UPSC IFoS Selection Process 2024: Personality Test
Candidates who successfully clear the main exam, will be eligible for the personality test. This test is meant for checking the mental strength of the candidate and evaluate the suitability of the candidate for the eligible post. This Interview round is the last step of the selection process. This Personality test round holds weightage of 300 marks.
UPSC IFoS Selection Process 2024: Final Result
Following the personality test, UPSC will release the merit list. The list will consist of the name of the successful candidates who will make it to the final. The list will be released on the official website of the UPSC.
Note:
- The first step of the selection process, Preliminary test is only qualifying. Marks obtained in the process is not counted for merit.
- For Final result, marks obtained in only mains exam and personality test will be considered.
