Initiated under India’s G20 Presidency, the Youth 20 Summit-2023 has kickstarted in Varanasi. The event’s Curtain Raiser witnessed key figures including Shri Pankaj Kumar Singh, Director of the Department of Youth Affairs, Shri S. Rajalingam, District Magistrate of Varanasi, and Anmol Sovit, Y20 Chair, gathering on August 16.

Empowering Youth Voices Worldwide: Youth 20 Summit 2023

Shri Pankaj Kumar Singh, Director of the Department of Youth Affairs, conveyed that the Youth 20 Summit-2023 is orchestrated by the Department in association with the G20 Presidency of India. The summit is scheduled to take place from August 17 to 20 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This collaborative event serves as a pivotal platform for prominent experts, decision-makers, delegates from G20 countries, as well as knowledge and academic partners, such as IIM Raipur and universities.

Themes and High-Level Representation

The Y20 Summit hosted in Varanasi aims to culminate in the formulation of the Y20 Communiqué. This document will be founded upon extensive discussions held over preceding months. The event is expected to be graced by esteemed figures including Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri Nisith Pramanik, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, and Shri. Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Inclusive Themes for Global Change

Approximately 150 delegates representing G20 countries, guest countries, and international organizations will engage with the five identified themes of the Y20 Summit. These themes encompass diverse domains including the Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction, Peacebuilding and Reconciliation, Innovation and 21st Century Skills, Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance, and Health, Wellbeing, and Sports.

Inclusive Collaboration Journey: Youth 20 Summit 2023

The Y20 Summit represents the culmination of a comprehensive journey, commencing with the Inception Meeting at Guwahati, followed by 14 Youth-20 Consultations conducted at renowned educational institutions. The journey also encompassed Pre Summit activities in Leh, Ladakh, brainstorming sessions, Y20 Chaupals, and Jan Bhagidari events across the nation, all aimed at shaping a robust global youth agenda.

As an official Engagement Group of the G20, Youth20 (Y20) acts as a pivotal platform for youth to voice perspectives and ideas on G20 priorities. The Y20 Summit’s goal is to foster collaboration, amplify youth development, and set the stage for an influential global youth discourse.
