Chemotherapy Services Launched in 30 ESIC Hospitals Across the Nation

Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, inaugurated Chemotherapy Services in 30 ESIC Hospitals across the country during the 191st meeting of the ESI Corporation at ESIC Headquarters in New Delhi on August 31st.

Significance of Chemotherapy Services in ESIC Hospitals

The launch of in-house Chemotherapy Services is a significant step towards fulfilling the government’s commitment to the comprehensive well-being of hardworking individuals in India’s transformative era. By providing accessible Chemotherapy Services, insured workers and their dependents will have improved access to cancer treatment, enhancing their healthcare experience.

Other Initiatives Launched at the 191st Meeting

Control Room

In addition, the Union Minister inaugurated a Control Room equipped with dashboards for ESIC. These dashboards will enhance the monitoring of resources and beds in ESIC hospitals, as well as provide real-time updates on ongoing construction projects and other relevant information.

ESIC Medical Colleges

To address the need for skilled medical professionals in ESIC Hospitals, the ESI Corporation has decided to expand its efforts in the field of medical education. New ESIC Medical Colleges and Hospitals will be established based on a thorough assessment of requirements. Currently, ESIC is successfully operating 8 medical colleges, 2 dental colleges, 2 nursing colleges, and one para-medical college.

During the meeting, various agenda items focusing on the enhancement of Medical Care Services, Administration, and Financial Matters were discussed and finalized. This included a thorough review of ongoing construction projects.

New ESIC Hospitals

The meeting resulted in the principle approval for the establishment of 15 new ESI Hospitals and 78 ESI Dispensaries. Additionally, there was an agreement to augment the bed capacity at ESIC Hospital, Beltola in Assam, ESIC Medical College & Hospital in K. K. Nagar, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and ESIC Medical College & Hospital in Faridabad, Haryana.

Other important initiatives

As part of the program, Shri Bhupender Yadav released important documents including the Citizen Charter, Manual of Audit & Accounts of ESIC, Referral Policy, and Equipment Policy.

Furthermore, Shri Yadav took the opportunity to honor 5 iGoT (iGOT – Karmyogi Bharaat) learners from ESIC offices in Rajasthan, Kerala, and Bengaluru. The iGOT platform is designed to foster capacity development among civil services professionals.
