The Railway minister in his statement said Indian Railways had undertook the recruitment process for 1.51 lakh railway Jobs in 2018. Recruitment of 2.3 Lakhs Vacancies for Railway Jobs would be carried out in next 2-3 years. This will take the total Railway vacancies to be filled till 2021 to 4 lakh.

The first phase of the Railway Recruitment 2019 will start in Feb-March for the filling up of 1.31 Railway Jobs vacancies. About 99,000 current railway employees are going to retire in 2019 and 2020. This will lead to additional railway vacancies to be filled.
The minister also indicated that all the vacancies announced in the Railway Recruitment 2019 announcement will incorporate the 10% EWS reservation.
