Aptitude Test and Interview
The next stage after qualifying in the PET is the aptitude test and interview stage. The Maximum Marks for the Aptitude test are 50 and the suitability of the candidate’s overall ability for Rajasthan Police SI is tested at this stage.
Rajasthan Police SI Selection Criteria
Those candidates will need at least 36 per cent marks in both the papers and an aggregate of 40 per cent to clear the qualifying written examination. After the examination, the commission will make available a list of the successful candidates.
This list will contain 20 % more names than the available vacancies on a merit basis according to the aggregate marks that the candidate got in the written exam.
For those candidates who come for the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) categories, there is a 5% relaxation in each paper and the aggregate.
Those candidates who clear the written test will move on to the next recruitment stage, the Physical Efficiency Test. The Physical Efficiency Board conducts this test. The physical efficiency test is a very vigorous one and is conducted based on the directions provided by the Director-General of Police. The purpose of the physical efficiency test is to ensure that only the suitable candidates move to the next stage of the Rajasthan Police SI exam process. This physical efficiency test is out of 100 marks, and to qualify for the next stage of the recruitment process, a candidate has to secure a minimum of 50 marks. This also makes them eligible for selection.
Those candidates who clear the written test and the physical efficiency test successfully move on to the next exam as specified in the Rajasthan Police SI Exam Process. This stage has two parts – the aptitude test and the interview. Even at this stage, it is ensured that the candidates called for the aptitude test and interview are three times the number of available vacancies. It is based on merit according to the aggregate marks scored by the candidate in the two tests – the written test and the test of physical efficiency. Candidates belonging to the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe categories to become eligible for an interview over and above the limit prescribed if they have cleared both the written exam and the test of physical efficiency.
The next stage after the test of physical efficiency comprises the aptitude test and the interview. For those candidates who have cleared the physical efficiency test, this stage will be for 50 marks. A Recruitment Board is vested with the task of holding both the aptitude test and the interview. Based on how suitable a candidate is for the SI post, marks shall be awarded to each candidate. This will also be done taking into consideration the candidate’s aspects such as:
- Aptitude for the post
- Behaviour
- Judgement
- Knowledge of the Culture of Rajasthan
- Leadership
- Personality
- Specialized training
- Tact
The marks awarded to a candidate during the aptitude test and interview stage will be added to the marks obtained by the candidate for the written test. A candidate who has a diploma or degree in criminology or has cleared N.C.C. “C” Certificate or has taken Police Administration as a paper in the examination for the degree course will gain weightage during the selection process.
There are certain recommendations associated with the selection process for the Rajasthan Police SI Exam. Foremost, the Commission will not recommend such candidates for selection who have not obtained even 36% marks at the interview stage or an aggregate of 45% marks. Commission has the power to recommend the following category of candidates even if they have not scored 36% in the interview stage and an aggregate of 45%:
- women candidates
- candidates belonging to the OBC, MBC, SC, ST
Even though they have not secured minimum passing marks but are seen by the Board to be suitable for appointment to the service keeping in mind that there should be the maintenance of efficiency of administration, they shall be recommended by the board if they have secured at least 30% marks at the interview and an aggregate of 40% marks.
