Staff Selection Commission Junior Statistical Officer Selection Process

1. Tier-I Examination

Tier-I Examination is a written test of MCQ-type questions for 200 marks (100 questions for 2 marks each). The time allotted for the test is 1 hour. There will be no negative marking for every unattempted question, but for every wrong answer, 1/2 mark will be deducted. The level of difficulty of the exam will be of bachelor’s level consisting of Quantitative Aptitude, English, Reasoning and General knowledge each for 50 marks (25 Questions from each part).

The tier-I examination is of qualifying in nature, as are the Tier-II and Tier-III Examination. The marks obtained in the Tier-I exam are used to prepare the Final Merit List for the selection process.

2. Tier-II Examination

Tier-II Examination plays an important role in the selection process; its Written test of MCQ-type questions. It consists of 3 papers, Quantitative Aptitude English Comprehension and Statistics, each for 200 marks.

3. Tier-III Examination

Candidates Qualifying for the Tier-I exam will be eligible to appear for the Tier-II and Tier-III Examination. The tier-III exam is (offline mode) descriptive in nature. It will be conducted for 100 marks to test the candidate’s writing skills. The duration of the exam will be 1 hour. It consists of Essay, letter, precis, application writing. Tier-III Exam is of qualifying in nature, i.e., candidates have to score at least 33 marks out of 100 marks. Marks scored in the Tier III examination will be added in the preparation of the final merit list.

Note: Candidates qualifying Tier-I exam are eligible to appear for Tier-II and Tier III Exam, but if they fail to secure the cutoff marks in Tier-I and Tier-II examination, the SSC will not check the copies for the Tier-III Exam. 

4. Tier-IV

Candidates have to go for a Document verification round after the tier-III exam. Candidates who failed to show documents as required by the authority will not be eligible to be appointed for the post of Junior Statistical Officer.
