UPSC CMS Notification 2023: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released notification for CMS on 19th April 2023. The UPSC has invited applications for 1261 vacancies. CMS stands for Combined Medical Service. UPSC CMS Notification 2023 – Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should make sure to check the official eligibility criteria before applying for any exam. Here are the details for the eligibility for the posts you can apply for through UPSC CMS exam

Age Limit

Except for Medical Officers Grade in General Duty Medical Officers Sub-cadre of Central Health Services, all candidates appearing for the CMS exam should be below 32 years of age as of 1st August 2023. For the Medical Officers Grade in General Duty Medical Officers Sub-cadre of Central Health Services, the age cap is 35 years for the same cutoff date.

Educational Qualification

The educational qualifications for the posts available through UPSC CMS are as follows-

  • Candidates must have passed the written and practical parts of the final M.B.B.S. examination to be eligible for the exam.
  • Candidates who have not yet passed the final M.B.B.S. exam may also apply, but their admission is provisional and subject to cancellation. If these candidates pass the written examination, they must submit proof of passing the final M.B.B.S. exam by the closing date of the Detailed Application Form. The proof of passing the final M.B.B.S. exam should be issued no later than the closing date of the Detailed Application Form.
  • Candidates who have not completed their compulsory rotating internship are still eligible for the exam but will only be appointed after completing the internship if they are selected.

Nationality

A candidate must be either:

  • a Citizen of India, or
  • a subject of Nepal, or
  • a subject of Bhutan, or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st of January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d), and (e) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
  • A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India

How to Apply

Interested candidates should use the following steps to apply for the recruitment-

  • Visit the official website of UPSC www.upsc.gov.in.
  • Check the scrolling banner of ‘What’s New’ on the right of the website.
  • Click on the ‘Exam Notification: Combined Medical Services Examination, 2023’
  • The new page that opens will have the name of the exam, the notification link, and the application link.
  • Click on the ‘Click Here’ under the heading ‘Link’.
  • You will be directed to the registration portal.
  • Enter the required details- mode of registration, e-mail ID, OTP (when you receive it), and the verification code displayed.
  • Once registered, log in to the OTR (one-time registration) platform.
  • In the OTR platform, check the ‘Latest Notifications’ tab
  • Click on the CMS exam link and register.
  • Fill in the required details, upload the documents asked, and pay the fees.
  • Make sure to keep a printed record of the fee receipt and the submitted application form.
