The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) conducts the OPSC Civil Services Exam. This exam is for the various posts under two groups, namely Group A and Group B. Under Group A, the posts offered are Administrative Service, Police Service, and Finance Service. Under Group B, the posts offered are Cooperative Service, Revenue Service, and Taxation and Accounting Service.  Candidates should know the date of the exam and the last day of making the application.

There are three stages in OPSC Civil Services Exam which name Preliminary, Mains and Interview.

The Preliminary Examination, Main Exam, and Personality Test are the three phases of the OPSC Civil Services and OPSC OAS Recruitment 2021 examination.

The following is the syllabus for all three parts:

OPSC Civil Services Prelims Syllabus

The preliminary test is divided into two parts, each lasting two hours (Paper I and Paper II). This test consists of multiple-choice questions. The syllabus for Paper 1 and Paper 2 is listed below:-

Paper 1

  • Important national and international events are now taking place.
  • India’s history and significant events in Indian history.
  • Physical, Social, and Economic Geography of India and the World.
  • Indian Constitution, Political System, Panchayat Raj, Public Policy, Rights, Issues, and so on are all examples of politics and governance.
  • Economic and Social Development – Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, and Social Sector Initiatives, to name a few.
  • Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity, and Climate Change Issues that do not necessitate topic expertise.
  • Science in general.

Paper 2

  • Comprehension
  • Communication skills are part of interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical conduct and logical reasoning.
  • General Mental Ability Decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Basic Numeracy, Data Interpretation.
  • English Language Comprehension.

OPSC Civil Services Mains Syllabus

The Mains Exam is the second in the series of tests. The Mains is a traditional exam. It will include essay questions. Each examination lasts three hours. The main exam consists of five obligatory papers worth a total of 1400 points. There are four optional subject papers for a total of 1200 points.

Compulsory Exam – 1400 Marks

Paper 1 – Odia Language

Paper 2 – English

Paper 3 – English Essay

Paper 4 – General Studies 1

Paper 5 – General Studies 2

Optional Subjects Exam – 1200 Marks

The candidate can choose a total of two subjects from the commission’s options.

Each subject will have two 300-point papers. Optional Subjects for the Main Exam include:

There are a few points to keep in mind as the candidate chooses the subject for their Main Exam Optional paper.

The Candidate is unable to combine the following subjects:

  • Any two languages are acceptable
  • Any two engineering topics
  • Anthropology and sociology 
  • Statistics & Mathematics
  • Public Administration, PS & IR
  • Psychology & Education
  • Agricultural Engineering & Agriculture

Candidates applying for the OPSC Civil Services Recruitment Examination 2021 should be aware that all exams, except the language papers, will be exclusively in English.

OPSC Civil Services Interview Syllabus

The OPSC has not established a Civil Services Interview syllabus. However, to pass the OPSC OAS interview, which is worth 250 points, the candidate must be up to date on current events in the state, the country, and the world in general.
