The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) in order to fill the vacancies in different Government departments conducts different National level examinations every year. The Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination is conducted to fill the Group-B and Group-C vacancies. SSC conducts these to fill the vacancies in different ministries, Government organisations and Government institutions. SSC CGL is open to all who meet the eligibility criteria.

SSC on 23^rd December 2021 issued a notification for the CGL examination for recruitment of Assistant and Auditor. The number of vacancies has not been announced yet. The process of application started on 23rd December itself. The last date of application is 23rd January 2022. The Tier I examination is expected to be conducted sometime in April 2022.

The Examination will be conducted in four tiers:

• Tier-I: Computer Based Examination
• Tier-II: Computer Based Examination
• Tier-III: Pen and Paper Mode (Descriptive paper)
• Tier-IV: Computer Proficiency Test/ Data Entry Skill Test (wherever applicable)

SSC CGL Assistant Eligibility criteria for Age:

Assistant Other Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations Group- B

• The minimum age of the candidate should be 18 years
• The maximum age of the candidate should be 30 years

Assistant National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) Group-B

• The minimum age of the candidate should be 18 years
• The maximum age of the candidate should be 30 years

(Candidate must have been born not earlier than 2^nd January 1992 and not later than 01^st January 2004)

SSC CGL Auditor Eligibility criteria for Age 

Auditor Offices under C&AG Group- C

• The minimum age of the candidate should be 18 years
• The maximum age of the candidate should be 27 years

Auditor Other Ministry/ Departments Group- C

• The minimum age of the candidate should be 18 years
• The maximum age of the candidate should be 27 years

Auditor Offices under CGDA Group- C

• The minimum age of the candidate should be 18 years

Age relaxations are provided to reserved categories. The category-wise age relaxation is given below:

A candidate must be either:  i. An Indian citizen, or ii. A subject of Nepal, or iii. A subject of Bhutan, or iv. A Tibetan refugee who came to India, before the 1st January 1962 with an intention of permanently settling down in India, orv. An individual of Indian origin who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda,  the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika & Zanzibar), Zambia, Zaire, Malawi, Vietnam, and Ethiopia with an intention of permanently settling down in India. Provided that candidates belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) mentioned above must be a person in whose favour an eligibility certificate has been issued by the Indian Govt. Candidates in whose case an eligibility certificate is necessary may be admitted to the Exam but the appointment offer will be given only after the required eligibility certificate has been issued to them by the Indian Govt.

• For SSC CGL Assistant:  Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent. The candidates must possess Essential qualifications on or before the closing date for receipt of online applications i.e., 23^rd January 2021.

• For SSC CGL Auditor:   Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent. The candidates must possess Essential qualifications on or before the closing date for receipt of online applications i.e., 23^rd January 2021.

Vacancies and Reservation:

• Vacancies for the 2022 examination will be issued in due course. 
• Updated vacancy positions will be uploaded on the official website of the Commission (https://ssc.nic.in > Candidate’s Corner > Tentative Vacancy).

• Reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates for the posts/services, wherever applicable and admissible, will be as determined and communicated by the Ministries/ Departments/ Offices/ Cadres, as per the Government rules.

• The SSC CGL Auditor has to perform field duties and certify the total collection of taxes/ duties.
• The Auditor cannot be transferred to other departments.

The career growth of an SSC CGL Auditor is one of the promotions. Within a period of 25 to 30 years, an Auditor can reach the highest rank of Deputy Accountant General while working in the same department.
