  • The TNPSC Group 1 Educational Qualification for these positions requires candidates to have achieved the specified qualifications in the prescribed order of studies.
  • Those in their final year of undergraduate studies are eligible to apply for the TNPSC Group 1 prelims exam. However, they must furnish proof of passing the degree exam when submitting original documents for the main exam. Their degree results must be declared by that time.

TNPSC Group 1 Requirement – Nationality

Indian citizenship is an essential eligibility criterion for TNPSC Group 1 exam 2024. Only candidates who are citizens of India can apply for this state civil services exam. Non-citizens are not eligible to apply for TNPSC Combined Civil Services-I (Group-I Services) posts.

TNPSC Group 1 Eligibility – Knowledge of Tamil

Applicants for the TNPSC Group 1 exam must possess proficiency in reading, writing and speaking Tamil language as per eligibility norms. Having the requisite language skills in Tamil is a mandatory TNPSC Group 1 qualification criterion that applicants must satisfy before applying.

1. Requirement: Candidates must possess sufficient knowledge of Tamil at the time of the notification.

2. Criteria for Sufficient Knowledge: Passed SSLC/HSC/Degree exams with Tamil as one of the languages, or Studied High School Course in Tamil medium, or Passed SSLC/HSC/Degree exams in Tamil medium, or Passed the Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by the TNPSC.

3. Document Submission: Candidates must upload/produce SSLC/HSC/Degree/PG Degree mark sheets or proof of passing the Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil when required.

4. Consequences of Failure: Failure to provide necessary documents may necessitate passing the Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil within two years from the appointment date. Failure to comply may result in discharge from service.
