TNPSC Group 1 Syllabus 2024

TNPSC Group 1 Exam Pattern

The TNPSC Group 1 exam pattern has two stages – Prelims and Mains. In Prelims, there is one objective paper with two sections and 200 questions for 300 marks. In Mains, there are three descriptive papers, each of 250 marks. So Mains has 750 marks in total. The Prelims paper tests general knowledge and aptitude. Mains papers evaluate written skills and subject knowledge through detailed answers.

The two stage rigorous selection process tests aspirants on a wide range of competencies required for TNPSC Group 1 service. Preparing thoroughly for both stages as per the prescribed pattern is key to success.

TNPSC Group 1 Syllabus 2024 – Prelims Exam Pattern

In TNPSC Group 1 Prelims 2024, there are two sections – General Studies and Aptitude & Mental Ability. General Studies section consists 150 questions and Aptitude and Mental Ability section consist 50 questions.

  • Each question carries 1.5 marks.
  • The Group 1 Prelims paper carries a total of 300 marks.
  • Total time given for the exam is 180 minutes or 3 hours.
  • There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
  • The language of the Preliminary Exam will be English and Telugu.

TNPSC Group 1 Syllabus 2024 – Mains Exam Pattern

The TNPSC Group 1 Mains exam 2024 has three descriptive papers. The number of questions from each topic varies in the papers. Topics include history, geography, polity, economy, science, current affairs etc. The questions test conceptual knowledge and writing skills. Candidates have to write detailed answers to score high marks. Total marks for three papers is 750 and time duration for each paper is 3 hours.

TNPSC Group 1 Syllabus 2024

The Group 1 preliminary exam tests general knowledge, current affairs, logical reasoning and mental ability in an objective format.
