Indian Railway Jobs: Group B/Class II

Officers in Group B are not recruited traditionally. The system is based on individuals who have been in Group C positions being promoted. For example, in the Civil Engineering Department, 70 per cent of the positions are filled through a selection procedure involving a written exam and an interview with non-ministerial Group C employees from the very same department. Group C employees who have served for a minimum of five years in the same grade and have qualified for a departmental competitive exam account for 30% of the positions. Employees in Group C(if they have no administrative responsibilities) can be non-gazetted or gazetted.

Group C Indian Railway Job Application and Notice: To be invited for testing, applicants must pay a small fee and complete online applications. It is not necessary to pass the test to be assigned.
