PM Inaugurates 37th National Games in Goa

On October 26, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the 37th National Games at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao, Goa. These games are scheduled to take place from October 26 to November 9, bringing together over 10,000 athletes from all over India. They will compete in more than 43 sports disciplines across 28 venues, making it a significant sporting event in the country.

About the National Games

The National Games of India is a multi-sport event held every four years in India. The Games are organized by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the National Games Organizing Committee (NGOC). The first Games were held in New Delhi in 1924, and the most recent Games were held in Gujarat in 2022.

These Games are open to athletes from all Indian states and union territories. The Games feature a wide range of sports, including athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, cycling, fencing, football, gymnastics, hockey, judo, kabaddi, kho kho, lawn tennis, netball, rowing, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, and yoga.
