Relaxation for Group ‘C’ Posts

Some additional relaxations in the upper age limit are applicable for specific candidates applying to Group ‘C’ posts. These are especially for central government employees and certain categories of women.

Important Points Regarding Age Relaxation (SSC CGL 2025)

Candidates applying for SSC CGL 2025 must carefully check the age relaxation rules applicable to their category. These relaxations help ensure fair opportunities for candidates from reserved and special categories.

  • For Group ‘B’ Gazetted Posts:
    ECOs/SSCOs (Emergency Commissioned Officers/Short Service Commissioned Officers) who have completed 5 years of military service as of the closing date of application and whose service has been extended beyond 5 years can get up to 5 years of age relaxation. However, the Ministry of Defence must certify that the officer can apply for civil jobs and will be released with 3 months’ notice if selected.
  • For Ex-Servicemen (ESM):
    To get reservation benefits, a candidate must already hold Ex-Serviceman status at the time of applying or should be able to prove (with official documents) that they will complete the required term of military service within one year from the last date of application submission (i.e., by 03 May 2025). They must officially attain ESM status within that same one-year period.
  • No Reservation for Dependents of Ex-Servicemen:
    Sons, daughters, and dependents of Ex-Servicemen are not eligible for ESM reservation or age relaxation. They should not select the ESM category while filling out the application form.

How to Calculate Age for SSC CGL 2025?

Candidates applying for SSC CGL 2025 must ensure they fall within the age limits set for the posts they’re applying to. The age will be calculated as on 1st August 2025, and the date of birth entered in the application form must match the Matriculation Certificate. No changes in DOB will be allowed later.
