Last minute tips for SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam before the exam

Check some important tips to follow before the exam :

Practice Mocks and Analyze your mistakes

Taking Mock Tests helps you understand your weak areas in the exam and preparing for them in advance requires practice with mock tests. It gives you a better idea of how you’ll fare if you have to take to answer questions of both the sections at once in the prescribed amount of time. As the test date draws closer, keep taking mock exams.

Expected cut off and previous year’s cut off

Just go through the previous year’s CGL tier-II cut off to set your benchmark for this year’s preparation. Knowing the previous year’s cut off, will help you get an idea about this year’s expected cut off. It will also help you know the good attempts for the exam. You can plan your strategy accordingly. Try to score higher than the previous year’s cut off in mock tests to gain more confidence. There is a fluctuation in cut off every year, but you can safely assume that cut off this year will be higher than previous years.

Revise important topics

Quoting Ian McKellen channeling his inner Gandalf

“If you don’t do your revision properly, you know what’ll happen?

YOU SHALL NOT PASS!”

Revise as per your weak areas in the syllabus but also keep in mind the important topics or the topics from where the questions are definitely asked in the examination. For example, Grammar rules, Active and Passive sentences, Profit and Loss, Geometry and Mensuration etc. Focus more on topics difficult for you. Do not take too much stress about the topics in which you are not able to perform well. Play by your strengths.

Strategize well

SSC CGL is all about proper time management. You cannot afford to spend too much time on any one question. You have to attempt enough questions with high accuracy. Best strategy is to solve questions from your strong areas which you are confident of and then go to questions of your weak areas. You can increase speed by applying short tricks, learning algebraic identities, trigonometric ratios, and identities, important formulae.

Note: Apply short tricks only when you are master at it after revising regularly.

Do not Start learning New Concepts at the last minute

Do not try to learn any new concept before the exam as it will hamper your preparation. Don’t cram new information which may or may not prove to be useful in the exam. There is also the risk of feeling overwhelmed. The best you can do is to revise the syllabus.

Sleep well

Don’t pull an all nighter before the exam. If you are unable to sleep due to stress or anxiety, try some breathing exercises or any tips that help you calm down. Ensure you sleep early before the exam and get a good night sleep. A good night’s sleep will ensure you are fresh and ready to perform at your best.

Take all the necessary documents and reach the exam center on time

Make sure to carry admit card, government ID, 2 photos, mask, sanitizer, COVID declaration form, transparent water bottle along with you. Strict frisking is conducted at the exam center. Ensure you reach the exam center on time to avoid unnecessary stress at the last minute.

Last minute tips for SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam while appearing for the exam

Check some important tips to follow while you answer the questions :

Go through each question at least once

Read each question twice to make sure you understand each question well. During the examination read the question and instructions very carefully so that you do not miss the details. Some tricky questions may become clear if you read twice or even thrice. Going through each questions atleast once will ensure you do not miss any question.

Do not get stuck on any one question

Remember the ultimate goal is to clear the cut off. Don’t get caught up in any one question. One strategy that works well is to answer the paper in rounds. For the first round, solve those questions which you think are easiest to solve and are most comfortable with. Next solve those which were left after the first round and the remaining questions you can solve in whatever time you have left. The purpose of this exercise is that no easy question should be left un-attempted by you in the exam as every mark counts.

Expect the unexpected

Always be prepared for some unexpected questions in the paper. Do not get discouraged. The questions would be equally difficult for most students. There will only be a few questions that are unexpected. You can remain assured tat majority of the questions would follow the pattern.

Do not go overboard or lose confidence

If the questions are very easy do not get over-excited and rush through the question as it can lead to silly mistakes. Also, do not get disappointed and lose confidence if some questions are very difficult in the starting. Read the question twice or thrice to get more clarity on the questions.

Do not discuss maths exam during the break

A very important piece of advice would be to not discuss the math exam during the break before the English exam, it will create unnecessary distraction and you can lose their focus from the paper.

We wish these tips prove useful to you.
