UPSC CSE Prelims Exam Date Change

The Union Public Service Commission has decided to postponed the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination – 2024, which also acts as the screening test for the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2024. This postponement is due to the scheduling conflicts arising from the impending General Election. Originally set for 26th May 2024, the examination will now take place on 16th June 2024.

UPSC CSE Notification 2024: Vacancy

The UPSC has released approximately 1056 vacancies to fill from Civil services exam 2024. Reservation will be made for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes. Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, the Economically Weaker Sections and Persons with Benchmark Disability in respect of vacancies as may be fixed by the Government.

For Persons with Benchmark Disability, there are 40 seats reserved.

• Go to upsconline.nic.in and click on the link for UPSC CSE online application.
• Keep scanned images of photo, signature, documents ready as per specifications.
• Fill the UPSC form with personal, contact, education and other details accurately.
• Choose exam center from the list of options given.
• Select optional subject if applying for UPSC Mains.
• Make payment of application fees via debit/credit card or internet banking.
• Check all details filled, preview application form before final submission.
• Upload scanned photo, signature and documents as required.
• Verify and submit the completed UPSC application.
• Take printout of form for future reference.
• Track application status using registration details.

UPSC CSE Notification 2024: Eligibility

Nationality

• Must be a citizen of India, or
• A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
• A Tibetan refugee in India before January 1, 1962, intending to settle permanently, or
• A person of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanent settlement in India.
• It’s essential for aspirants to understand and meet these criteria to ensure a smooth and successful application process for the UPSC CSE 2024.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
• Candidates in the final year of graduation can apply provisionally.
• Proof of passing the degree examination is required before a specified date.

Number of attempts

• General category: 6
• OBC category: 9
• PwBD (All category): 9
• SC/ST category: No Restrictions until upper age limit

Age limit (As on 1st August, 2024)

• Minimum age: 21 years
• Maximum age: 32 years

Age Relaxation

• Relaxations apply for candidate in reserved and specified categories.

Physical Fitness

• Candidates must meet specific physical and medical standards.
• Mandatory for certain services like Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Forest Service (IFoS).

UPSC CSE Notification 2024: Exam Pattern

The IAS 2024 exam patters is a comprehensive process comprising Prelims, Mains and Interview stages, testing candidates across various subjects and skills essential for a career in civil services. Aspirants need through preparation and awareness of current affairs for success.  

Preliminary Examination (Objective)

• The prelims exam will have two papers.
• Both papers will be objective type.
• There will be negative marking of 0.33 of the marks assigned to that question.
• If a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer.
