UPSC CSE Prelims Exam Date Change

The Union Public Service Commission has decided to postponed the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination – 2024, which also acts as the screening test for the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2024. This postponement is due to the scheduling conflicts arising from the impending General Election. Originally set for 26th May 2024, the examination will now take place on 16th June 2024.

UPSC CSE Notification 2024: Vacancy

The UPSC has released approximately 1056 vacancies to fill from Civil services exam 2024. Reservation will be made for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes. Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, the Economically Weaker Sections and Persons with Benchmark Disability in respect of vacancies as may be fixed by the Government.

For Persons with Benchmark Disability, there are 40 seats reserved.

UPSC CSE Notification 2024: Eligibility

Nationality

  • Must be a citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee in India before January 1, 1962, intending to settle permanently, or
  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanent settlement in India.
  • It’s essential for aspirants to understand and meet these criteria to ensure a smooth and successful application process for the UPSC CSE 2024.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
  • Candidates in the final year of graduation can apply provisionally.
  • Proof of passing the degree examination is required before a specified date.

UPSC CSE Notification 2024: Exam Pattern

The IAS 2024 exam patters is a comprehensive process comprising Prelims, Mains and Interview stages, testing candidates across various subjects and skills essential for a career in civil services. Aspirants need through preparation and awareness of current affairs for success.  

Preliminary Examination (Objective)

  • The prelims exam will have two papers.
  • Both papers will be objective type.
  • There will be negative marking of 0.33 of the marks assigned to that question.
  • If a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer.

1. What is the minimum educational qualification for UPSC CSE 2024?

The minimum educational qualification for UPSC CSE exam is bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognized university. The bachelor’s degree certificate should be from any university incorporated by an Act of the State and Central Legislature of India.

2. Are final year students allowed for the IAS Exam 2024?

Yes, if the candidate is final year of college and have appeared for or intend to appear for the final examination of bachelor’s degree course or are awaiting the results of the same, he/she is eligible to apply for the prelims examination of the CSE.
