Advancing Self-Reliance in Missile Technology: Indigenous Missiles

The recent Missile Technology Conclave-cum-Symposium, themed ‘Aatmanirbharta in Missile Repairs & Indigenisation Technologies (AMRIT-2023)’, held at the Samudrika Auditorium, Naval Base, Visakhapatnam on August 23, marked a significant step towards enhancing Indigenous Missiles technology.

The event commenced with an inauguration by Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command, and included special addresses by experts Dr Y Srinivas Rao and Shri GA Srinivasa Murthy. The symposium witnessed the presentation of papers and engaging technical discussions among participants from diverse organizations, creating an atmosphere of dynamic idea exchange. The involvement of partners like the Military Institute of Technology, Pune, and the National Research and Development Corporation further enriched the discourse.

Collaborative Participation for Self-Reliance

The symposium garnered a strong response, drawing participation from prominent entities including DRDO, PSUs, DPSUs, Indian Private Defence industries, MSMEs/Start-ups, representatives from State Government, and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM). The event featured exhibition stalls that served as showcases for the expertise of DRDO labs, DPSUs, and private defence firms in the realm of Missile Repairs and Indigenisation.

This platform facilitated collaborations among Indian industries, DRDO Labs, Academia, and the Indian Navy, aligning with the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. The symposium’s success underscores a significant stride towards self-reliance in Defence, aimed at reducing dependency on foreign sources and nurturing the nation’s Defence capabilities.

Paving the Way for ‘Aatmanirbharta’: Indigenous Missiles

The Chief Guest acknowledged the pivotal role of participating agencies in advancing the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ vision and praised the accomplishments of AMRIT-23. The symposium’s impact extends to benefitting the Indian Navy and the Armed Forces, as it focuses on decreasing reliance on external sources and reinforcing the core strengths of the Defence Industry.

As the event concluded, Cmde CS Nayar, Commanding Officer of INS Kalinga, conveyed a vote of thanks. Naval personnel, Subject Matter Experts, local businesses, and educational institutions visited the exhibition stalls, enhancing the collaborative spirit of the event.
