Sagnik Bhattacharjee is from Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, and completed his graduation in physics from Presidency University, Kolkata, in 2014. After graduation, he focused on preparing for government jobs, especially in the banking sector. His journey was filled with failures, as he could not clear many exams initially and even lost confidence at one point.
Despite repeated failures, he continued practicing and improving through mock tests and self-analysis. He also worked in private jobs while continuing his preparation and studied regularly after work. His consistent efforts helped him gradually clear exams like IBPS Clerk and SBI Clerk.
His turning point came during 2017-18 when he cleared multiple exams including RRB PO and RBI Assistant. He secured State Rank 12 in RBI Assistant and joined the Reserve Bank of India in August 2019. His journey highlights the importance of persistence, mock test practice, and continuous effort.
Question 1: Please tell us about your academic background and how your preparation journey started.
Answer: I completed my schooling at Holy Child School, Jalpaiguri, and graduated in physics from Presidency University, Kolkata, in 2014. After graduation, I could not score 60% marks, and my opportunities for higher studies got limited. After that, I started focusing on government jobs and gave my primary concern to the banking sector, as there were more opportunities.
Question 2: How was your initial preparation phase, and what challenges did you face?
Answer: I appeared for my first competitive exam, SBI PO, in 2015 but could not clear it. After that, I appeared for many exams during 2015-16 but could not clear any of them. It was frustrating, and at one point I felt that I was a failure and did not have the potential to succeed.
Question 3: How did you continue your preparation despite repeated failures?
Answer: I started giving mock tests from various platforms and tried to learn from my mistakes. I practiced more and more, gave numerous mock tests, and identified my strengths and weaknesses. I focused on improving my weak areas through regular practice.
Question 4: How did you manage preparation while working in private jobs?
Answer: I worked as a financial adviser in PNB MetLife for 6 months and then worked as a CRO in Bandhan Bank for nearly 1 year. During this time, I continued my preparation and studied for 3-4 hours daily even after working 12 hours a day.
Question 5: When did you start seeing success in your preparation journey?
Answer: The phase 2017-18 was a turning point in my life when I started clearing exams. I qualified IBPS Clerk and joined Canara Bank, cleared SBI Clerk and joined SBI, and also cleared RBI Assistant and joined the Reserve Bank of India.
Question 6: What were your major exam achievements and final selections?
Answer: I cleared IBPS Clerk 2017 and joined Canara Bank in September 2018. I cleared SBI Clerk 2018 and joined SBI in December 2018. I also cleared RBI Assistant 2017-18 with State Rank 12 and joined the Reserve Bank of India in August 2019.
Question 7: What role did mock tests play in your success?
Answer: Mock tests played the most important role in my success. I regularly practiced mock tests, mainly from Oliveboard, and improved my performance by analyzing mistakes and working on weak areas.
