‘AAINA Dashboard for Cities’, Empowering Urban Local Bodies

AAINA Dashboard

AAINA Dashboard: In a significant development on November 13, 2023, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) launched the AAINA Dashboard’s portal (www.aaina.gov.in). This groundbreaking initiative invites Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) nationwide to actively engage by voluntarily submitting essential data regularly through a straightforward data entry form on the portal.

The Core Objectives of AAINA Dashboard

The AAINA Dashboard focuses on three primary objectives:

1. Comparative Analysis

Cities can gauge their performance in comparison to others, fostering healthy competition and driving continuous improvement.

2. Inspiration and Possibilities

By showcasing potential areas of improvement, the AAINA Dashboard seeks to inspire urban centers to strive for excellence in various aspects.

3. Peer Learning

Rather than ranking ULBs, the dashboard encourages peer learning by facilitating comparisons among cities with similar profiles.

Categorization and Presentation of Data

The AAINA Dashboard categorizes ULBs’ submitted data into five overarching pillars:

i. Political & Administrative Structure

An examination of the governance framework and administrative setup of ULBs.

ii. Finance

An evaluation of the financial health and resource management of ULBs.

iii. Planning

An assessment of the strategic planning initiatives undertaken by ULBs.

iv. Citizen Centric Governance

A focus on measures taken to ensure citizen welfare and participation in governance.

v. Delivery of Basic Services

An examination of the efficiency in providing essential services to residents.

Streamlined Data Submission Process

ULBs can seamlessly submit their data, including audited accounts and self-reported performance metrics, by logging into the dashboard’s portal. The flexibility to update information ensures that ULBs can accurately reflect their ongoing progress.

A Sustainable Data Platform

Envisioned as a permanent platform for ULB-related data, the Dashboard will undergo regular updates. With the active cooperation of all ULBs, it aspires to establish a robust database of key performance metrics, accessible to all stakeholders and open for public viewing once populated.

Supportive Measures: AAINA Dashboard

To ensure a smooth data submission process, the Ministry, through Digital India Corporation, will provide handholding support to ULBs and states as needed. This collaborative effort aims to make the Dashboard a comprehensive and reliable resource for tracking and enhancing the performance of Urban Local Bodies across the country.
