State Capacity Building Workshops

The National e-Governance Division, in collaboration with its knowledge partners, is rolling out a series of State Capacity Building Workshops as part of its Capacity Building Scheme. The primary objective of these workshops is to demystify the potential of emerging technologies in enhancing service delivery and guiding policymakers in adapting to the ever-evolving digital landscape.

Inaugural Workshop Unveiled in Maharashtra

The inaugural workshop is currently underway in Maharashtra, taking place from the 9th to the 12th of October 2023. With more than 28 officials from various departments in Maharashtra participating, this intensive four-day training program is designed to equip policymakers with a comprehensive understanding of emerging technologies, ensuring their seamless integration into the state’s initiatives.

Commencement of the Workshop

The workshop’s inauguration was led by Ms. Nima Arora, Director IT, accompanied by senior officers from NeGD and the Wadhwani Institute of Technology & Policy (WITP). This launch marked the beginning of a series of sessions that will empower senior government officials with the knowledge necessary to make informed decisions regarding the incorporation of emerging technologies within their respective departments.

A Platform for Expertise Exchange

The workshop serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, bringing together a diverse group of subject matter experts from both industry and government. These experts lead interactive sessions, delve into real-life case studies, offer hands-on demonstrations of relevant tools, and articulate a vision for translating ideas into proof of concepts, pilots, or full-fledged projects.

A Unique Collaboration

Launched in August 2023, these workshops stand out due to their unique collaboration between the government and industry consortium. This partnership is aimed at enabling the government to effectively leverage emerging technologies, thereby enhancing the delivery of public services, strengthening governance, and facilitating more informed decision-making.

Future Initiatives: State Capacity Building Workshops

Following the Maharashtra workshop, similar workshops are on the horizon in states like Kerala, Ladakh, Telangana, and more. These endeavors represent a collective effort to equip state officials with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the ever-evolving digital landscape and harness the full potential of emerging technologies for the benefit of citizens and governance alike.
