The National recruitment Agency (NRA) is all set to conduct the Common Eligibility Test (CET) for various Government exams (non-gazetted posts) for Banking, SSC and Railways across the country from early 2022.

The CET score will remain valid for three years (however, you can take CET every year in order to improve your CET score), and based on your score you can apply for your desired Banking, SSC & Railways recruitment for a higher level of exam.

  • Central Government has announced that the NRA Common Eligibility Test (CET) will be conducted across the country from early 2022.
  • Haryana Chief Minister on 12th January 2021 announced that a Common Eligibility Test to be conducted by Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) for filling up different posts under Group C and D category.

Q1) What is the full form of NRA & CET?

Ans: The full form for:

NRA is National Recruitment Agency.
CET is Common Eligibility Test.

Q2) What is NRA – National Recruitment Agency?

Ans: NRA is a testing agency which would be responsible for conducting the preliminary ‘eligibility’ examination for non-gazetted posts. This includes the banking jobs in government sector banks, railway jobs (RRB) and SSC jobs. The agency, to be set up under the Societies Registration Act would have representatives of the Ministry of Railways, Department of Financial Services, the SSC, RRB and IBPS.

Q3) What is NRA CET?

Ans: CET stands for Common Eligibility Test. NRA would conduct an online CET which would serve as a screening or a preliminary examination for various non-gazetted government jobs including the RRBs, IBPS (banking jobs) and the SSC jobs (CGL, CHSL, etc.). It would only be the first level of examination which can be taken by the candidates.

Q4) On How Many Levels CET would be conducted?

Ans: Separate CET’s to be conducted for three levels of eligibility –

  1. Graduate
  2. Higher secondary (12th)
  3. Matriculate (10th pass)

Q5) In how many languages the NRA CET exam will be conducted?

Ans: The NRA CET will be conducted in multiple languages. According to Minister of DoPT Jitendra Singh, the exam will be conducted in 12 languages that are in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India.

Q6) Which All Exam NRA CET will cover?

Ans: Initially NRA CET would cover recruitment exams for Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS Clerk/ PO) and Staff Selection Commission (SSC CHSL, CGL, Steno Group C, D, JHT, etc.). These would then be expanded to other non-gazetted posts.

Q7) Who will make the Final Selection List?

Ans: Based on the CET score, the final selection to be made through separate specialized Tier 2/ Tier 3 examinations conducted by the respective recruitment agency.

Q8) Do I have to appear for different CET’s for RRBs, IBPS, SSC Jobs?

Ans: No. Separate CETs would be not be conducted as per different agencies/departments like RRB, IBPS, SSC etc.
Separate CETs would only be conducted for jobs that require different education qualifications like – minimum high school certificate (Class 10), minimum higher secondary or Class 12 certificate and Graduation.
If the jobs applied for requiring the same level, the candidate need not appear for separate CETs.

Q9) Would I have to appear for other exams after clearing CET?

Ans: Yes. If you qualify the CET, then you would need to appear for the second and third rounds of the recruitment. The NRA would only screen for basic aptitude and the actual selection would be based on the recruitment criteria specified for the jobs by the respective recruitment agencies – RRB, SSC and IBPS.

Q10) What would be the validity of CET?

Ans: NRA CET score would be valid for three years. It means that once a candidate qualifies CET, he/she need not appear for the examination for three years and would be eligible to appear for the various recruitment examinations conducted in the three years – depending on the age limit set by the recruiting agency. Also, candidates can appear for another CET examination for score improvement.

Q11) What is the Syllabus for NRA CET?

Ans: Syllabus for NRA CET will be announced once the NRA becomes functional. It is expected syllabus would be in line with the current syllabus for the preliminary examinations for various levels of examinations.

Ans: Initially the exam would be conducted twice every year in online mode.

Q13) How many centres will be there in CET?

Ans: CET to be conducted at over 1000 centres, every District will have at least one exam centre, including the 117 aspirational districts.

Q14) Will our CET Score will be shared with other companies?

Ans: CET scores will be shared with the central government, state government, UTs, PSUs, Private sector to facilitate more employment generation.

Q15) How many numbers of attempts are there for NRA CET?

Ans: No restriction on the number of attempts by the candidate, subject to the upper age limit prescribed.

Ans: Medium of writing will be a multiple choice objective type question paper.
