UIIC AO Interview Language 2024
Candidates set to appear for the UIIC AO interview must be curious about the languages they are allowed to use for the interview. As such, it is wiser to use English during the conversation. However, if you feel less confident in English than in your regional language, candidates can use Hindi/their regional language in the interview.
What matters most is how confident and positive you sound when you answer. So, even if you’re speaking Hindi or a local language during the interview, make sure you speak smoothly and confidently.
UIIC AO Interview Language – How to Present
Candidates preparing for interviews should know that, unlike the online exam, a lot of weight rests on your presentation. This not only includes the display of your know-how and awareness, but also your way of speaking, physical expression, and appearance. This section provides tips for UIIC AO Interview aspirants on ensuring they leave no stone unturned in their interview presentation.
Body Language
The art of controlling your body language and physical expression to make a specific impression is very subtle and requires practice. Here are a few points to keep in mind as you train for the interview:
- Politeness: When you’re asked to enter the interview room, seek permission from the panel. Greet them when you enter and only sit once they say so. When speaking address them as sir/ma’am and keep your voice even and polite regardless of your emotions. These reflect a well-balanced and mannered person, who knows how to show respect and deference.
- Confidence: While politeness is necessary, it does not mean you appear weak. Keep your voice audible. Try not to fumble and stutter over your answers. Take time to think and if necessary, request a writing pad and pen. Keep your confidence up.
- Gestures and Expressions: Keep yourself calm and neutral. Your expression should be pleasant. Avoid making wide gestures and expressions, because the panel will also note your ability to behave and remain formal and professional. Also avoid nervous tics like leg shaking, nail biting, etc. The panel knows you must be nervous, no need to confirm it for them.
- In Case You Don’t Know an Answer: Don’t panic. It is given that there will be questions which you have heard for the first time, or for which you know the answer but you’ve blanked out. Take 10 seconds to think. If you’re completely unaware of the answer, tell the panel. In case you have a vague idea but you’re unsure, tell the panel that and request permission to state what you think is the right answer. Remember, interviewers sometimes want to test how you tackle not knowing something as opposed to how much you know.
Appearance
During interviews, your effort is not just seen in your theoretical or behavioural preparation, but also in your appearance. Here are things to keep in mind when it comes to your visual presentation at the UIIC AO Interview:
- Formal Dressing: This means a smart shirt-pant combo with a blazer if you have it. You can also wear a tie. Try and avoid loud colours and patterns and use more neutral colours like white and pale blue. Wear smart dress shoes and socks. Avoid any ort of casual or festive wear.
- Hair: Clean hairstyle which should be well combed and in place. For women, make sure your hair is tied up well. Men should make sure to be clean shaven/have a well-trimmed beard.
- Accessories: Keep it simple. Do not wear fancy jewellery (earrings, necklaces, bangles, rings). Wear a watch. For women, avoid heavy makeup and hair ornaments.
