CTET 2019 Exam Analysis – 8th Dec 2019 (Paper 1 & 2)

The CBSE is conducted the CTET Paper 1 & 2 across India today for the recruitment of teachers in various private and government schools. The exam was conducted in two-phase Paper 1 & Paper 2. Paper 1 for candidates aspiring to teach class I-V and Paper 2 for candidates aiming to teach Classes VI-VIII. Candidates who wish to teach both Primary and Upper Primary i:e (Classes I-VIII). CTET 2019 Exam Analysis – Paper 1 Exam Pattern

CTET Paper 1 Exam Pattern

All the sections are compulsory and candidates get 150 minutes to solve 150 questions. Interesting thing is that there is no negative marking in the CTET exam. Candidates need to score 60% of the total marks to clear CTET exam.

(i) Child Development and Pedagogy (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 Marks
(ii) Language I (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 Marks
(iii) Language II (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 Marks
(iv) Mathematics 30 MCQs 30 Marks
(v) Environmental Studies 30 MCQs 30 Marks
Total 150 MCQs 150 Marks

 

CTET 2019 Exam Analysis – Paper 1 (Section-wise)

As per the students who appeared in paper 1 we have received a mixed review regarding every section of the paper. Some aspirants believed that the allotted time was less as compared to the paper as the paper was lengthy. Students also claimed that the level of paper from CBSE was on a bit higher side this year. Let’s see below few questions from each section and also the difficulty level of each section:

Mathematics – The Section was comparatively on the easier side, the questions were direct and demanded the candidates to be attentive while reading the question. This trick would have helped them solve the question with much efficiency.

Few Questions:

Q1. The side of a square is 4 cm, it is cut into 4 equal squares. What is the area of each small square?

Ans: a. 4 cm^2

Q2. Which number in the given option is divisible by all the numbers from 1-10 (both inclusive)?

a. 10
b.604
c. 100
d. 2520

Ans: Option D

Environmental Studies – This section maintained the easy level of difficulty. The section mostly consisted of direct questions. 

Q1. Where is the Dandi seashore situated?

Ans:– Gujarat

Q2. High Fever & Shiver which can be treated with the branch of cinchona tree is:

Ans: Malaria

Q3. ‘Cheraw’ is the dance form for the people of?

Ans:- Mizoram

  • Natural Resource- 2 questions
  • General Science – 4 questions
  • Travel & Static GK – 4 questions
  • Family & Friends – 1 question
  • Distance & Direction – 2 questions
  • General Pedagogy – 15 questions
  • Misc. – 2 questions

Child Development & Pedagogy – The CDP section fell into the category of easy to moderate difficulty level. The questions included all the types from practical to direct application. Here are a few glimpse of the questions asked.

Q1. In the constructive Framework, learning is primarily;

Ans: – Focussed on the process of meaning-making.

Q2. The concept of ‘inclusive education as advocated in the RTE 2009 is based on:

Ans: – mainstreaming of the disabled by offering them primarily vocational education.

Q3. Child-centered pedagogy promotes:

Ans:- giving primacy to children’s experience.

Hindi Section- Questions asked in the Hindi section were comparatively easy as compared to in the previous edition. Paper consisted of direct questions and students were able to complete their Hindi section on time.

  • Poem – 6 questions
  • Language Pedagogy – 15 questions

English Section:

Overall easy difficulty level

  • Passage – 6 questions
  • Poem – 6 questions
  • Language Pedagogy – 15 questions

CTET Paper 2 Exam Pattern

In paper 2 there is a choice for the aspirant to chose between Mathematics & Science or go for Social Studies. Candidates can attempt the section as per their will.

(i) Child Development and Pedagogy (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 Marks
(ii) Language I (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 Marks
(iii) Language II (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 Marks

(iv) Mathematics & Science (For Maths & Science Teacher)

OR

60 MCQs 60 Marks

(v) Social Studies/Social Science (For Social Studies/Social Science Teacher)

*For any other teacher – either (IV) or (V)

60 MCQs 60 Marks
Total 150 MCQs 150 Marks

 

CTET 2019 Exam Analysis – Paper 2 (Section-wise)

Child Development Pedagogy:  Aspirants found the section tricky and often felt like there could be more than 1 right answer. Overall difficulty level – easy to moderate.

English Section: This section being a bit lengthy was still well attempted by the candidates. They claimed that one who has solved enough previous year’s paper could have expected this coming. Overall difficulty level being easy.

Hindi section: The passages in the Hindi section were lengthy and required candidates to be thorough with the reading to answer the questions. Overall difficulty level for this section was moderate.

Maths SectionThe questions were tricky and required candidates to apply some logical thinking. Tricky questions made the candidates vest more time in solving. Overall difficulty being considered as easy.

Science Section: 

Social Science: As per the students this section was a bit tougher than last year’s paper. Candidates were seen spending more time in this section. The difficulty level was moderate.
