Punjab Police Constable Eligibility- Overview, Recruitment

Punjab Police Recruitment 2021 has released a list of 4358 vacancies for the post of Constable in District Police Cadre and Armed Police Cadre. However, the board can post the selected candidates anywhere in Punjab, India, or abroad. The interested candidates should make an online application on the recruitment portal. The candidates can only appear for the OMR-based offline written MCQs Test if they satisfy the Punjab Police Constable Eligibility criteria while filling the Common Application Form (CAF). Candidates need to ensure that they satisfy the eligibility criteria decided by the Punjab Police Department before appearing for the examination; otherwise, the board might cancel their candidature. They should also ensure that the original documents support the qualifications and claims made in the application form since the shortlisted candidates will be called for document scrutiny after the offline written exam. Punjab Police Constable Eligibility 2021:

Let’s look upon the essential eligibility specifications to be eligible for recruitment: 

I- Nationality:  

The applicant needs to be a citizen of India. One should also remember that the applicant cannot apply if they possess any other country’s citizenship/permanent residential status/green cards. 

II- Age Limit: 

The age limit has been fixed by the department, which is given below:

Note: Ex-servicemen who are residents of Punjab are permitted to reduce the service period of Armed Forces of Union from their actual age. However, the resultant age should not exceed the maximum age limit by more than three(3) years as specified for direct appointment to such vacancy in the concerned Special Rules. If the candidates satisfy these conditions, then they will be deemed to comply with age limit criteria.

III- Educational Qualification: 

Minimum Education Qualifications: 

  • 10+2 (2 years of schooling post grade 10) or its equivalent from Education Board or University recognised by law. 
  • Matriculation- For Ex-Serviceman.

The candidates should attain the above educational qualification before the closing date for submission of online applications for the recruitment of Constable post.

Mandatory Educational Qualification: 

  • Applicants must have passed the Matriculation examination with Punjabi subject as one of the compulsory or elective subjects of their curriculum or any other equivalent examination in the Punjabi language specified by the Punjab Government from time to time. 
  • A ward of Defence Service Personnel, being the bonafide resident of Punjab, is required to clear an examination of Punjabi language equivalent to Matriculation Standard if appointed by the direct appointment. 
  • He can also be termed to possess the mandatory qualification if he has qualified for the test conducted by the Language of Wing of the Education Department of Punjab Government within the prescribed period of two years from his appointment date.

IV-Physical Standards:

The notification specifies the physical standards for the candidates to be satisfied before appearing for exams:

Stage-I: Objective Type- MCQs Written test (OMR based/ offline test): 

The number of subjects and number of questions for the exam is as follows. The duration of the exam is 2 hrs.

The candidates to be eligible to be considered for the next stage should procure minimum marks in the written examination as given in the below table:

Stage-II: Document Scrutiny, Physical Measurement Test, and Physical Screening Test: 

The candidates shortlisted in stage-I will be called for documents scrutiny, followed by a physical measurement test and a physical screening test.

The candidates should carry admit card along with the below-listed documents with one self-attested copy of each document to place mentioned on admit card on the designated  date and time: 

  • Matriculation certificate for proof of age
  • 10 2 or equivalent certificate 
  • Proof of clearing Punjabi at matriculation level
  • Reserved category certificate issued by the competent authority
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Departmental head or office concerned (applicable only for serving government employees).

Only the candidates whose documents are in sustenance with the claims made in the application form will be eligible to take the Physical Measurement Test. 

The candidates should comply with the physical measurements mentioned in Physical standards para no. IV of the article to be eligible to proceed with the Physical Screening Test.

What is the total number of marks in the written examination? 

The written examination is conducted for 100 marks. 

What are the admissible photo ID proofs to carry to the examination centre? 

The candidates must carry anyone photo ID proof to get entry to the venue. The eligible ID proof is Aadhar Card, Indian Driving Licence, PAN card, Voter ID card, and Indian passport.

Is there any negative marking in the written test? 

No, there is no negative marking for incorrect answers given in the exams.
