The RBI Grade B Selection is done in several phases. Phase 1 is a preliminary examination. Candidates who clear Phase 1 are called to appear for Phase 2 which is the mains examination. Candidates who clear both the written examinations are further called for the Personality Test round or Interview. As the RBI Grade B Notification is not yet out and aspirants need to start preparing now, it becomes more important to understand the RBI Selection Process in a better way.

Every year RBI releases vacancies for this post. Out of lakhs of students, RBI chooses the most efficient and effective candidates and for the same, it conducts a three-tiered selection process. Without fulfilling all the needs of the eligibility, you won’t be able to sit for the exam as you may be rejected at any stage of the selection process.

Stages in RBI Selection Process

Let us move on to the stages in the RBI Selection Process 2025.

  • Phase 1 (Preliminary Exam): Phase 1 of the RBI Grade B Exam consists of 4 subjects. These are Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, and English. A total of 200 questions are asked for 200 marks. The total duration of the exam is 120 minutes. Also, note that there is sectional timing. As far as the marking scheme is concerned, 1/4 of the assigned questions will be deducted as negative marking.
  • Phase 2 (Mains Exam): Phase 2 is further divided into three papers. Paper 1 & Paper 3 are a mix of objective and descriptive papers whereas Paper 2 will be completely descriptive. This stage will be taken into consideration while creating the final result.
  • Phase 3 (Interview): This is the final stage of the RBI Grade B Selection Process. The interview stage consists of 75 marks. For this stage, the marks of all three papers of Phase 2 will be taken into consideration.

RBI Grade B Selection Process 2025

The RBI Grade B Selection Process consists of three stages which are Phase 1 (Prelims Exam), Phase 2 (Mains Exam), and Phase 3 (Interview). Out of the 3 stages in the selection process, the first two stages are online. The third stage will be offline as it is an Interview round. Phase 1 of the selection process will not be considered while constituting the final result which means that Phase 1 is qualifying in nature. The final selection will be done on the basis of mains and interviews.

Only those aspirants who clear Phase 2 will be able to appear in the Interview. The interview will be conducted for a total of 75 marks and the candidates are allowed to opt for either language (Hindi or English).
