As such, candidates must have completed at least 85% of their preparation for SSC CGL Tier 2. With that in mind, these last two or so weeks are essential. Let’s look at some good preparation tips and tricks you can use to make your revision more effective.

SSC CGL Tier-2 20-Day Preparation Tips and Tricks

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you enter your last preparation phase before the SSC CGL 2022 Tier 2 is held.

1. No learning new topics

A strict no-no. Learning and practicing new topics and concepts are supposed to be done in the first stage of preparation. It is very likely that you may start to feel panicked or confused if you start new topics now. Stick to the ones you know. Try and make your foundation solid.

2. Previous Year Question Papers

Time and again toppers have emphasized the importance of these. As a whole usually a minimum of 70% and sometimes even 80-90% of the paper is based on the Previous Year’s Questions. These last few weeks, alongside revising and practice, make sure to do full-length PYQs. This gives amazing exposure to the kind of questions and the difficulty of the questions. Even with the change in pattern, questions for the subjects may not undergo that drastic a change. Just make sure to do plenty of these.

3. Typing

Typing is a session in the first paper of SSC CGL Tier 2. With 15 minutes allotted time, it is a test of proficiency, accuracy, and speed. Candidates should make sure to practice their typing enough to achieve at least 27 words per minute. To be on the safer side, 35-40 words per minute would be recommended.

4. Computer Proficiency

Computer proficiency is in the third section of the first session of Paper 1 of SSC CGL Tier 2. It may seem easy, but nothing is too easy in an exam like SSC CGL. Make sure to learn and revise each term and concept thoroughly. The following are the topics for Computer Proficiency:

  • Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), input/ output devices, computer memory, memory organization, back- up devices, PORTs, Windows Explorer. Keyboard shortcuts.
  • Software: Windows Operating system including basics of Microsoft Office like MS word, MS Excel and PowerPoint, etc.

Make sure to revise your Computer Proficiency in these few weeks before SSC CGL 2022 Tier 2.

SSC CGL 2022 Tier 2 20-Day Preparation Tips and Tricks: Mock Tests

Mock Tests are a great way to achieve a number of goals during the course of your preparation. Firstly, mock tests provide real-time practice. You are solving questions on a time limit that is identical to the exam. This provides the atmosphere of the exam itself. Attempting these mock tests mean you practice the topics in an exam environment. Here are a few tips on how to boost your confidence by getting high scores in mocks, and therefore in the exam itself:

  • Whenever you’re solving questions, whether in mocks or the exam, judge the difficulty before attempting it. With practice, you’ll begin to differentiate between easy, moderate, and difficult questions. Make sure to not waste your time with difficult questions. Not only will you lose time, but the stress may cause errors and thus negative marks. Leave it for when you get any spare time.
  • Keep an eye on the time whenever you’re doing a mock test. Compare your timing with your previous attempt, with the average, with those of toppers. Oliveboard provides a very comprehensive evaluation in this regard, and this helps understand the candidate’s level as compared to not just the candidate themselves, but candidates all across the country who are attempting the same mock.
  • In case you’re consistently scoring low in mock tests, try and space out the mocks with revision and practice. Attempt mocks when you’re confident you can boost your attempts and accuracy simultaneously.

SSC CGL 2022 Tier 2 20-Day Preparation Tips and Tricks: Attempt Strategy

How does one efficiently attempt SSC CGL Tier 2? Well, it varies from person to person. It is always best to start with the section that you are confident you can complete the fastest or is the strongest for you. The advantage of this is that you spend less time and will already secure marks. Not just that, but having completed a section/set of questions early will also be a huge confidence booster. But in case you are confused as to what to start with if not your strongest area, you can use the following tips:

  • In case of confusion always go for the section which doesn’t require calculations. In this case, that would be the English and GK section. These don’t require much thinking and can be cleared pretty early.
  • Once you’re done with English and GK/GA, the major sections of quant and reasoning remain. For these try and do the one-liner/few-step questions for reasoning. Meaning questions like missing number series, meaningful words, etc.
  • After completing the easy reasoning questions, try and complete the maths sections. When you’re done with maths, come back and do the longer, more difficult questions of reasoning.
