SSC GD Constable PET (Physical Efficiency Test) | Check Details

Staff Selection Commission conducts a national-level General Duty Exam to fill the vacancies with Constable and Rifleman in several divisions as defined in the hiring process. SSC GD Constable PET can be the most vital round for a lot of the aspirants. The commission conducts the exam in four stages, involving:

  • Computer-Based Exam (CBE)
  • Physical Standard Test (PST)
  • SSC GD Constable PET (Physical Efficiency Test)
  • Detailed Medical Examination (DME) or Review Medical Examination (RME)

So, before applying for this prestigious post, the applicant must know the stepwise selection process and each test.

SSC GD Constable PET –  Exam Pattern

The computer-based exam is an objective-type test, which every applicant needs to clear to get elected for the next stage. The test is based on a negative marking system and gives a 1 mark for every right answer but deducts 0.4 marks for every wrong answer. SSC conducts this written exam in both English and Hindi languages.

All applicants who clear this exam will move to the next rounds, i.e. PET (Physical Efficiency Test) and PST (Physical Standards Test). CAPF conducts these tests for both male and female applicants to check their physical fitness and strength. The Physical Standards Test is to check whether the applicant meets height, weight and chest criteria set by the authority or not. The applicants who pass the PST exam will be eligible for the next round of SSC GD Constable PET. Both male & female applicants need to appear for this test, which is actually a running race.

CAPF will call all applicants who will clear the SSC GD Constable PET for the medical test, which is the last stage of the SSC GD Constable Exam. The applicants have to pass this stage to be eligible for the post. CRPF will also do the document verification of applicants at this stage. After all rounds and document verification, the commission will declare the final result along with force allocation. The force allocation will be based on the applicant’s performance in the CBE subject to the scores in the Physical Standard Test, Physical Efficiency Test, Medical Examination, etc.

However, to appear for every round, you need an SSC GD Constable Admit Card, which acts as an entry ticket to the examination hall. It also possesses all relevant information regarding the exam and your personal details.

Now let us learn about what is PET and what are the different criteria set by CAPF for different categories:

What is SSC GD Constable PET?

CAPF calls all applicants who have cleared the written test and PST. The board then conducts the next round of the SSC GD Constable PET. In this round, both male and female applicants will be tested for their fitness level and stamina. CAPF will examine whether the applicant is strong enough for these highly demanding posts and conduct the running race test at various centres all across India.

Every applicant must be aware of their capabilities and strengths before applying for the SSC General Duty Constable Post. Let’s learn more about the PET through the table:

Points to Remember regarding PET

  • If any applicant wants relaxation in height or chest measurement, the CAPF board will scrutinise only after PET and before PST. It clearly shows all applicants have to pass PET without fail.
  • Ex-servicemen who have cleared the Computer-Based Examination need to appear for the PST and record height, chest and weight measurements. They don’t need to go for PET but only for the Medical Examination Test.
  • If any applicant is found under the influence of any energetic medicine at the time of PET will be disqualified.
  • Pregnancy at the time of SSC GD Constable PET will be a disqualification, and the SSC can reject a pregnant female applicant at that time only.
  • However, if any woman applicant who clears PET but is pregnant for twelve weeks at the time of medical examination may be declared temporarily unfit, she may get the post kept reserved for her and the benefit of seniority as per the rules set by the governing body after clearing PET after six weeks of her confinement period.
