Brief About Himanshu Baliyan

Himanshu Baliyan is from Delhi and has cleared the NABARD Grade A Exam on the 2nd Attempt. He has completed his Post Graduation in Economics in 2020. According to Himanshu Baliyan, after clearing this exam, he is feeling calm and stable along with joyful and excited. He said he was hoping that he will clear the exam but wasn’t sure. He was pretty sure that he gave his best in the Mains Exam & Interview.

Himanshu’s Preparation Strategy

If someone is starting from scratch, then he should start preparing at least 3 months prior to the notification. Also, everyone should start preparing beforehand for the mains as well. He used PIB Sessions of Oliveboard in his revision part. He believed the best strategy for PIB is to do it on your own first and then go through Oliveboard’s PIB Sessions on a daily basis.

Phase 1 Strategy

If a candidates want to clear the exam then the candidate must get at least 15 marks more than the actual cut-off. The best part of NABARD is the QRE is qualifying in nature. Making a Strategy is always important to clear the exam. If you are nonworking, you need to spend 8 to 12 hours in preparation.

For Reasoning, He used to do 1 hour of reasoning every day. He watched youtube sessions on a regular basis of which Oliveboard’s youtube sessions were also a part. For Decision making, Oliveboard’s Free PDF is enough if read and understood well. For General Awareness,

According to him, GA is never that difficult, if prepared well.

You need to look at the syllabus holistically. You need to look at ARD, ESI & GA together. PIB is the key to MCQs. At least cover the last 3 months of PIB, then you will be well versed with the repeated and current schemes. You can also prepare your own quiz for the schemes. PIB & Government Schemes are the most important. ARD is not difficult as it is static. You can pick up one course, you can complete ARD in 15 days. Again the current ARD will be covered in PIB.

Phase 2 Strategy

According to him, you should make up your mind to prepare for the Mains exam right from the beginning of the preparation phase. You need to write at least 1 essay or precis every day to score well in the descriptive. In mains, UPSC touch comes to ESI & ARD. You need to pick some books for the same. For the answers, one needs to be comprehensive. You need to have a clear understanding and perspective of the topic/question. One such book is Uma Kapila. If you do not have background knowledge, then Ramesh Ji is one of the books you must refer to clear your basics. Also, Oliveboard’s Course helps a lot. For Time Management Strategy in Descriptive, You need to write 4 answers, 2 answers of 15 marks, and 2 answers of 10 marks. The only answer is PRACTICE. You need to be “To the Point” and the examiner must be attracted to your answer.

Experience of Mock Interviews with Oliveboard

This was the first time I was giving an interview in my entire life. The input I got within the 45 minutes of the Interview helped me a lot. It is really necessary and one cannot skip this.
