Coast Guard GD Navik Syllabus- Exam Pattern, Syllabus, Recruitment Stages

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) conducts the recruitment examinations for the post of Navik (General Duty) annually. It is a national level examination, and the placements are done across the country. On 16th December 2022, ICG issued a notification for the recruitment of Navik (General Duty) under the Ministry of Defence. In all, there are 260 vacancies. The online application will start on 4th January 2022 and will continue till14th January 2022. The selection process includes several phases-a written test followed by a Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Medical Examination. Eligible Candidates can apply for this recruitment through the official website of the Board. This article will provide you with the examination pattern and Coast Guard GD Navik Syllabus. Indian Coast Guard General Duty Navik Recruitment Stages

  • Stage 1: the first stage is the written examination, and it is an MCQ test. 
  • Stage 2: Candidates qualifying for Stage 1 are called for the Physical Fitness Test. The Physical Fitness Test includes:
    • Running – 1 kilometre,
    • Squat ups – 20 (utthak-baithak), and 
    • Push-ups – 10 

(all three tasks are to be done in continuation). 

  • Stage 3: After stages 1 and 2, an all-India level merit list will be released, and the shortlisted candidates are called for Stage 3. Stage 3 has the following procedure:
    • Document Verification
    • Final medicals at INS Chilka
    • Submission of Original Documents
    • Police Verification
  • Stage 4: In the final stage, the candidates qualifying stage 3 are provisionally shortlisted for training at INS Chilka.

Indian Coast Guard GD Navik Exam Pattern

  • The examination is an objective type paper. 
  • The Section I paper consists of 60 questions, and each question carries 1 mark.
  • Section II has 50 questions, each carrying 1 mark.
  • Time duration For Section I is 45 minutes.
  • The time duration for Section II is 30 minutes.
  • No negative marking is done.

Minimum Passing Marks:

The candidates must secure the minimum passing marks to clear the paper. The minimum passing marks and the cut off marks are not the same. Minimum marks are to clear the paper, whereas the cut off is the qualifying marks a candidate has to attain to get shortlisted for the next stage of the selection process.
