1. Promotion of Philately: The primary goal is to promote philately (the study and collection of postage stamps) among school children. By introducing them to this fascinating hobby, the scheme encourages students to explore the rich heritage and cultural significance of Indian postage stamps.

SPARSH Yojana Scholarship Details

Under the SPARSH Yojana, the Ministry of Communications plans to grant annual scholarships to students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance and exhibit an interest in Philately. Benefits of the Scholarship

Amount: Each scholarship amounts to ₹6,000 per annum, disbursed at ₹500 per month. The scholarship payments will be facilitated by IPPB/POSB on a quarterly basis.

Renewability

Scholarships are granted for one academic year. However, students who have previously been awarded the scholarship may reapply in subsequent years provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

Mentorship Program

To provide additional guidance and support, participating schools will be assigned a Philately Mentor selected from esteemed Philatelists. These mentors will assist in establishing and nurturing School-level Philately Clubs, offering guidance to aspiring Philatelists, and aiding students with their Philately Projects.

To qualify for the SPARSH Yojana scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be a regular student in Class 6th to 9th.

• Be a member of the school’s Philately Club, or have a Philately Deposit Account if the club is not established.
• Have achieved a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the recent final examination.
• SC/ST candidates are eligible for a 5% relaxation in marks.

Offline Application Steps:

1. Download Application Form: Applicants should download the Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana application form.
2. Fill and Submit: Fill in all mandatory fields in the application form, attach required documents (self-attested if necessary), and submit it via registered post, speed post, or in person to the respective Regional Head/Divisional Head.
3. School Application: Schools can also apply on behalf of students. All interested candidates’ applications from a school can be submitted in one envelope by the school in-charge/head.
