Both UPSC CSE (IAS Exam) & RBI Grade B Exams are considered tough but if we compare only these two exams, then UPSC IAS is tougher. This is because of the vast syllabus that is asked in the IAS Exam. RBI Grade B Exam is an ideal backup for UPSC Aspirants because Phase 1 of the RBI Exam consists of Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, and English, and the same subjects are in the UPSC Prelims exam i.e. CSAT Paper. All you need to do is maintain your speed, accuracy and be a little more efficient in these sections.

Both the exams have three tiers but RBI Grade B Cycle gets completed in a shorter span of time as compared to UPSC IAS. The candidates will have to prepare for the RBI Grade B Phase 2 along with Phase 1 as there is a very little time gap between the both of them.

The syllabus of the RBI Grade B Exam is crisp as compared to UPSC. For Phase 1, the General Awareness section has the highest weightage and that can be covered with Current Affairs, Static GK, etc. Also, the GA section can be prepared for both Phase 1 & Phase 2 simultaneously as Phase 2 consists of Economic & Social Issues (ESI), Finance & General Management (FM). Here, being well-versed in GA helps a lot. Also, Phase 2 consists of both descriptive & objective questions and the UPSC Aspirants already prepare for descriptive questions, so it will become slightly easy for them to tackle the exam.

The candidates will join the civil services as entry level IAS officers after clearing the UPSC exam, and their salary will be Rs 56,100 excluding all allowances.

The basic pay of an RBI Grade B Officer is Rs 55,200.	The initial salary is Rs 56100 excluding all allowances and the pay level is 10 for 1-4 years of service.
The highest basic pay that an RBI Grade B officer gets after promotions is Rs. 99,500 after 16 years.	The highest basic pay that an IAS officer gets after promotions is Rs. 2,50,000 after 37 years. This is for the highest post i.e. Cabinet Secretary.
