JK- Police- Constable Selection Process

The JK Police Constable recruitment has a three-stage selection process. It is mandatory for a candidate to qualify in each stage to be eligible for recruitment. The three stages of the recruitment process are:

  • PET- Physical Endurance Test 
  • PMT- Physical Measurement Test 
  • Written Examination

Application Fee 

Candidates are required to pay Rs.300/- Demand Draft/ Postal Order through the J&K Bank or Post offices at Jammu / Srinagar. 

Eligibility Criteria 

The candidates who wish to apply for the post of Jammu and Kashmir Police Constable should meet the following eligibility criteria set by the board. The eligibility criteria is given below:

Age Criteria

  • The minimum age of the candidate should be Candidates should be 18 years.
  • The maximum age of the candidate should be Candidates should be 28 years.
  • Upper Age relaxation will be provided to the Reserved category candidates as per the decision of the Board.
  • In the case of serving SPOs with a continuous period of engagement of a minimum of 3 years and VHGs (Voluntary Home Guards) with an engagement period of a minimum of 5 years, the upper age limit will be 37 years.
  • For Ex-Servicemen the upper age limit will be 48 years.

Educational Qualification Criteria

Candidates must have passed the matriculation (10th Class) examination or its equivalent certificate issued by the Government recognized board.

Nationality

The candidate to apply for the JK- Police Constable recruitment must be an Indian citizen. The candidates will require to produce a certificate as proof of Nationality during the Document Verification. 

Since the candidates appointed as JK Constables will be posted in the 10 Border Districts i.e. (Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Poonch, Rajouri, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Leh, and Kargil), candidates belonging to the domicile District (0-10 Kilometres) are not eligible to apply for appointment in any other District except the Scheduled Caste (SC) category who can apply only in any one of these 10 Districts.

PET (Physical Endurance Test) Eligibility Criteria 

  • Long Race for Male candidates = 1600 meters in 6 ½ minutes
  • Long Race for Female Candidates = 1000 meters in 6 ½ minutes
  • Push-ups (only for male candidates) = 20 (on the cycle of up and download to be counted as one)
  • Shot Put (4 Kgs) = 14 ½ feet in 3 attempts. 

Number of Attempts Criteria 

The Board has not set any restrictions on the number of attempts by a candidate. Candidates can apply as many times as they want as long as they fulfil the age criteria of the JK Police Constable recruitment.

Experience Criteria 

The Jammu and Kashmir Police Constable post does not require any kind of experience.
