The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) is a government organization that conducted exam for Maharashtra Rajyaseva exam. The selection process for the Maharashtra Civil Service Exam is conducted into three stages in which two stages are written and e last stage is viva vice. The MPSC recruitment process consists Prelims exam, Mains exam and Interview or Personality Test.

Maharashtra Public Service Commission conducts MPSC Rajyaseva exam for selecting candidates for Group A and Group B civil service for the state of Maharashtra. The examination of MPSC is conducted to select eligible candidates for different government posts and appoint them on different service matters like disciplinary and transfer, advice on promotion, the establishment of recruitment rules, etc.

MPSC Selection Process

The recruitment process for the MPSC Rajyaseva examination concludes in three different stages. Two stages are written but one is oral. The selection process includes:

1. MPSC Prelims Exam- 2 Papers
2. MPSC Mains Exam- 9 Papers
3. MPSC interview

The exam is conducted for 2025 marks for merit. Remaining papers are only conducted for screening. The MPSC prelims exam act as screening test for Mains exam.

MPSC Selection Process – Prelims

MPSC Prelims Exam is the first stage of the Maharashtra civil service exam recruitment process. This exam consists of two compulsory objective papers. Both papers are of 2 hours each.

1. This paper is screening in nature so marks of both papers will be considered for qualifying candidates for the mains exam.
2. Both Paper I and Paper II have negative markings for all the incorrect answers.
3. There shall be a negative marking of 1/4 of the marks allocated to the question in Paper 1 & 2. The questions on decision-making in Paper 2 do not have negative marks if incorrectly answered.
4. Candidates need to score minimum marks as decided by the commission to qualify for the main exam.
5. All the questions are set in English and Marathi except for those questions which are meant to test the candidate’s knowledge of English.

MPSC Selection Process – Mains

Candidates who qualify the first stage of the MPSC exam, they are considered for the second stage i.e. Mains exam. In MPSC Mains there are seven compulsory papers and two qualifying paper. Paper I and Paper II are language papers, Paper III is Essay, Papers IV, V, VI and VII involved topics from the general studies papers while Paper VIII and IX are optional papers.

1. This exam is both scoring and qualifying in nature.
2. Candidates need to attempt all the papers to qualify for the next round.
3. There is negative marking in the objective question papers.
4. The medium of the paper is Marathi & English except language paper.

MPSC Selection Process – Interview

The last stage of the MPSC Selection Process is the Interview or Personality Test in which candidates who clear the MPSC Mains exam, have to appear before the commission. A panel of the members who are unbiased and competent evaluate the candidate based on the their mental ability, decision making ability, problem solving ability, awareness of the current events of the country and with special reference to Maharashtra. The Interview is conducted for 275 marks.
