The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has released the Grade A notification announcing 110 vacancies for the post of Assistant Manager, including 20 vacancies for the Legal Officer stream. The SEBI Grade A recruitment process is based on the candidates’ performance in Phase 1, Phase 2, and the Interview conducted by SEBI.

SEBI Grade A 45 Day Strategy

The SEBI Grade A Legal Officer exam has two phases, and both include Paper 2 with multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Paper 1 tests candidates on subjects such as Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, English Language, and General Awareness. The SEBI Grade A exam follows a well-structured selection process to recruit qualified candidates for the Grade A (Assistant Manager) Law Officer post. The process has been curated to assess candidates’ knowledge, technical skills, and overall suitability for the role through multiple stages of evaluation.

  • The selection process will be conducted in three phases, Phase I, Phase II, and Interview.
  • Phase I will be an online examination consisting of two papers.
  • Candidates who qualify in Phase I will be shortlisted to appear for Phase II.
  • Phase II will also be an online examination with two papers.
  • Candidates who clear Phase II will be called for a Personal Interview.

Note: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) reserves the right to change or modify the selection procedure if required.

SEBI Law Officer Phase 1 Exam Pattern 2025

The SEBI Grade A Phase I is the online screening examination consisting of two papers of 100 marks each. The Paper 1 is for 100 marks to be attempted in 60 minutes and the cut off is 30%. For Paper 2, the maximum marks is 100, the duration is 40 minutes and the cut off is 40%. The aggregate cut off for both the papers will be 40%.

  • Negative Marking: 1/4th for both papers in Phase 1.
  • Marks secured in Phase 1 will not be counted in final selection.

Important Points:

  • Candidates must clear the cut-off for each paper and also have a total score of at least 50% to be eligible for the interview.
  • Only three times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for the interview, based on merit.
  • In the final merit list, Phase 2 marks carry 85% weightage, and the interview carries 15% weightage.
  • Candidates can choose to give the interview in either Hindi or English.

The weightage of Interview for final selection of SEBI Grade A will be 15% and the rest will be of Phase II. For Interview, the candidates can either opt Hindi or English.
