Q3. A product costs Rs. 400 and is sold at 20% profit. Find SP.
Solution: SP = 400 × 1.20 = Rs. 480

Q4. If SP = Rs. 360 and loss = 10%, find CP.
Solution: CP = SP / 0.9 = 360 / 0.9 = Rs. 400

5–6. Mixtures & Alligations

Q5. In what ratio must water be mixed with milk costing Rs. 30/litre to get a mixture worth Rs. 24/litre?
Solution: Water:Milk = (30-24):(24-0) = 6:24 = 1:4

Q6. A 30-litre mixture contains milk and water in 7:3 ratio. How much water to add to make it 1:1?
Solution: Milk = 21L, Water = 9L → Let x be added: 21 = 9+x ⇒ x = 12L

7–8. Permutation, Combination & Probability

Q7. In how many ways can 3 books be arranged on a shelf from 5 books?
Solution: P(5,3) = 5×4×3 = 60 ways

Q8. What is the probability of drawing a red card from a deck?
Solution: 26 red cards out of 52 ⇒ 26/52 = 1/2

9–10. Work & Time

Q9. A does a work in 12 days, B in 16 days. Working together, they complete it in?
Solution: 1/A + 1/B = 1/12 + 1/16 = (4+3)/48 = 7/48 ⇒ Time = 48/7 ≈ 6.86 days

Q10. If A and B together finish a work in 10 days and A alone does it in 15, how long will B take?
Solution: 1/B = 1/10 – 1/15 = (3-2)/30 = 1/30 ⇒ 30 days

11–12. Sequence & Series

Q11. Find the 10th term of AP: 2, 5, 8…
Solution: a = 2, d = 3 ⇒ Tn = a + (n−1)d = 2 + 9×3 = 29

Q12. Sum of first 20 natural numbers?
Solution: n(n+1)/2 = 20×21/2 = 210

13–14. Simple & Compound Interest

Q13. Find SI on Rs. 3000 at 10% for 3 years.
Solution: SI = PRT/100 = 3000×10×3/100 = Rs. 900

Q14. CI on Rs. 2000 at 10% p.a. for 2 years?
Solution: A = 2000(1.1)² = 2000×1.21 = 2420 ⇒ CI = Rs. 420
